Assassin’s Creed 4: When & Where To Next? The Future of Assassin’s Creed: Caution! Spoilers ahead

OXCGN:

"The big problem with a history-based series is that you have to match the known historical data with your own story.

This spawns a great many creative boundaries for a game developer.

But the Assassin’s Creed universe has a ready-made invented historic period that they could cover in Assassin’s Creed 4 that could be based on our ancient societies and architecture, but hand complete freedom to the developer." (Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, PC, PS3, Wii U, Xbox 360)

That would make a pretty cool game, but I bet they aren't quite brave enough to do it yet.
iamnsuperman  +   735d ago
I do not think it will work. The one thing (lets say "mission" statement) of the AC series is to go to places in history that isn't usually explored. I think the first civilisation would be cool but goes against that "mission statement". I see it staying in Europe if it is in the historic past as Europe ruled the world.

I think French revolution or industrial London could work. Again there are many time periods that can work and fit within the AC universe. I suspect it will be finding the other pieces of Eden to start another revolution

SPOILER!

But wouldn't it be a shame if they've built this great backstory and ended with the conflict between Juno and Minerva and then not go there?

How can you build up to the end of the world and then suddenly go back to finding apples of Eden or whatever? For what reason? Another end of the world?
iamnsuperman  +   735d ago
@gaminoz

I agree it would be but where could they realistically go.

[SPOILER]

They have set up the big fight with Juno and how the Assassins need to fight her as it was their only option. They know that the Pieces of Eden (or what ever they are called) were used to over throw the ones that came before before and so history is kind of repeating itself. The could go there to see how they did it but they all ready know combining the pieces makes a bigger weapon.

I don't think you will get a full game that goes to FC times, but rather your going to get bits and pieces in each upcoming game.

I mean, I though AC3 would take place only in current times, and I was wrong

My theory is that the future character will be a descendant of eve, as only those interbred with the FC are immune to the POE's.

And you will go through different memories throughout history learning about the FC, and how they lost the war... but there will not be a full game about it

There will be no Assasins creed III, Im pretty sure thats what the developers said... Too bad so sad
Scotty056  +   734d ago
No, they said Desmond's story loop is over. They're open to more games as long as there is a demand and they have ideas. However they said it'd only be a few more games.

I like it, but think we'll get another Connor one first.
DeusExer  +   735d ago
I'm not too sure about that.

AC3 dealt with a fair chunk of Connor's life, and it seems like he has already completed the most important parts of his story.

But then again, Ubi could always make up some further narrative.

I think his decreased popularity will not see him back.
Also, how can we have another Connor game with the ending to AC3?
iamnsuperman  +   735d ago
Well the biggest problem is that (like you said)

[SPOILERS}

Desmond is dead. SO how can they realistically use Connor again unless they use another relative but that just seems to coincidental and also a lame story mechanic. Like the old you have destroyed the biggest bag guy ever only to have a new even worse enemy to appear all of a sudden

[SPOILERS]

I agree he will not be back due to his unpopularity

The way they could get him back is to have someone "hack" the Animus and explore its memory banks or some such nonsense.

That's why you can still 'play' the memories of Connor in the game even after SPOILER Desmond is dead.

They can always explain anything away...
gaminoz  +   735d ago
Connor could lead into the French Revolution, but they'd have to develop his character a bit beyond "I'm for my people and for freedom and a big grouch".

He needs more personality.
claud3  +   735d ago
That would work on so many levels
Paris99  +   735d ago
Hope the multi-player improves with its maps and characters!
gaminoz  +   735d ago
Agree: I love the Revelation maps way more.
Nimblest-Assassin  +   734d ago
Free roam ala Red dead would be awesome in an AC game
Proeliator  +   735d ago
We're gonna have a comment war because people are going to refer to a single thing without stating it, and everyone will say "Your idea sucks!"

On topic: I like the idea of the French Revolution. Maybe do it in a Brotherhood-style sequel in a year or two?
Hooshuwashu  +   735d ago
ancient greece would be pretty cool.
Paris99  +   735d ago
I think that idea with Ancient Greece would really work.
Deeloc  +   735d ago
Plz no more
BadCircuit  +   735d ago
Why not? Did you read it? It would be refreshing if they were brave enough to do it. Probably not though.

Assassins Creed= prologue to Metal Gear Solid. O__O
FantasyStar  +   735d ago
I'm tired of hopping back in time. It was cool the first time because there was a reason. Everything after AC2 was just gimmicky for the sake of making more games.

I miss Kristen Bell :(

There won't be another assassins creed game. The ending sucked
BadCircuit  +   735d ago
Yeah right, and there won't be another Call of Duty either.
Deku-Johnny  +   734d ago
There shouldn't be another Call of Duty*
Deku-Johnny  +   735d ago
They should make Robin Hood an Assassin.
BadCircuit  +   735d ago
That's the Magna Carta option on there I think.
Cirran  +   735d ago
The next few assassins creed games will be AC3: ??? and AC3: ???? With not much added to the AC3 formula. After those AC4 will be released and it will be a desmond only game.

Oh how I wish I'm wrong.
imbrawler  +   735d ago
The 4th AC should take place in mayan time to see why the came up with the 2012 world ending idea, and how it all started
Deku-Johnny  +   734d ago
They didn't come up with that, it's just where their long count calender ends. Basically someone heard about the calender ending this year and mistakenly thought it meant they were predicting the end of the world. A lot of people should thank that guy for all the money they've made from his mistake.

[SPOILER]
So finished 3 and during all the epiloge missions some things come into play 1. Connor finds his family land bought by an unnamed person (perhaps DLC or next game related), his tribe/clan went west. Or his first view of slavery, so maybe that could be DLC related or set for the next game as he helps to stop it or see if the templars are behinde it.

All I want to say is, I hope Connor's story continues even if they do it backwards and you play him and its revealed later that someone who is infact from connors bloodline is now the main lead. since Desmond didnt have relation to Connor but it was Juno who put him in the memories of conor. And you cant tell me all this time Connor didnt have to defend his land and the amulet from seekers and such. After all when Desmond got there it looked as if the land had not been messed with.

I just feel his story could continue between fighting slavery, finding his clan, defending his homestead and even seeing him go over sees himself as it would be new for him and others who view him. His story was good, it was the first AC that made me want DLC or a sequel since 2, didnt like brotherhood, but I enjoyed revelations.

Anyways...Connor for one more game be it 4 or a side game.
rpd123  +   734d ago
I don't like when people say that Connor has no character compared to Ezio. Ezio had 3 games to mature, Connor had one. At the end of AC2, Ezio had barely developed at all.

I'd love to play as Adam or Eve the founders of the assassin order. Imagine exploring something truly alien with a next gen treatment

I just realized that really anything before the Crusades can't be done. The Templars and Asssassins both originated in the Crusades. Yeah I guess you could say that they were just factions that had been at war long before, but it doesn't make sense why they would still be called Assassins and Templars today if they were already pre existing groups.

I saw AC3 at end was appear civil war!!!. Conner age will still play in civil war. Do u agree me?
