DmC: Devil May Cry demo First Impressions | not so epic

Nothing screams franchise reboot like removing the dynamic between everyone’s favourite brothers, the sons of Sparda: Dante, and Vergil. Philip Lam still remembers the overwhelming flood of negative opinions when the reveal trailer was released, but he was fixated on solely one detail.

Any suggestions on how to approve my writing would be appreciated.

^-^

Kenshin_BATT0USAI4166d ago

I gotta agree with Calis.

I mean come on man, you wrote "how to approve my writing". That's just stupid. It's 'IMPROVE'.

Neckbear4166d ago

You start by not mixing up approve and improve.

Then, you follow calis' words step by step.

I really do need to proofread proficiently without the help of spell check.

the demo is awesome, i don't know why you say its not so great. i found it fresh and has attitude to boot. probably my first dmc

I think that was their goal right from the start: to please gamers who have never played a true DMC game, even if that meant to ignore the established fanbase.

And if by awesome you mean no lock-on, no blocking, slow and unresponsive dodging and generally imprecise controls all wrapped up in the lamest art direction possible, then yes... DmC is the epitome of awesome.

Blastoise4166d ago

At first I thought the you were saying the demo was "not so epic" until I read the article. But yeah, an interesting read. I liked it myself, a couple of cringe worthy lines but Dante was always a douchebag. The only difference is now he's a douchebag who swears.

Thought the boss fight was really fun, boss fights are rare these days. And that was a great episode of futurama

Really good article. Not gonna have the time to give it a shot, myself, until I cool off on P4G, and these hectic holiday work hours of mine are over. So, around Saturday or so.

Still, I'm glad to hear many positive things about this game. At the same time, though, I have never forgotten the way the developer treated the fans and even insulted the franchise creator. I can't, in good conscience, support Ninja Theory's efforts, even if the product is a good one.

check this video: http://www.youtube.com/watc...

It resumes why the new DmC sucks so much.

That was awesome, it showed what it took to master the combat, he used variety of every melee weapon, multiple styles, and he managed to maintian in the air that long and not get hit too. Now staying in the air in DmC is easy enough for Call of Duty players to do it, and its possible for anyone to fight and not get hit once in DmC on the hardest difficulty possible offered in the demo, and the rank fills up real quick with one enemy, in the video it took A LOT to even get to just A.

Video makes me so excited for metal gear rising! Rising looks more like Devil May Cry than DmC (guess because its being developed by the original DMC team, and one of the best action games developers)
Any past Devil May Cry game beats DmC anyday, thats why im getting the HD collection when DmC comes out to replay all the good ones, then Ill be getting rising.

Kenshin_BATT0USAI4166d ago

After playing both demos I can safely say Rising is definitely the better of two. No competition.

Jesus...my DMC skills are absolutely horribe after watching that.

Ranking the Devil May Cry Series

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "Upon finally finishing Devil May Cry 5 recently - after it spent several years on my “I’ll play that soon” list - I considered giving it a fittingly-named Late Look article. However, considering that this was indeed the final piece I was missing in the DMC puzzle, I decided to instead take this opportunity to take a look back at the entirety of this genre-defining series and rank the entries. What also made this a particularly tempting notion was that while most high-profile series have developed fairly evenly over time, with a few bumps on the road, the history of Devil May Cry has, at least in my eyes, been an absolute roller coaster, with everything from total disasters to action game gold."

First to last for me...3,4,5,1,2.

VersusDMC16h ago

Me leaving it out should be telling of my thoughts on it. Better than 2 as a DMC game.

Still a good game though.

Friendlygamer18h ago

3,1,4,5 to me, never played 2. 5 gameplay is amazing but level design was really disappointing to me, just a bunch of plain arenas, the story felt like a worse written rehash of the 3rd and the charater models looked weird ( specially the ladies ). Another problem with 5 was that there was not enough content for 3 charaters so I could never really familiarize with any of them

2.
Dmc.
4.
5.
1.
3.

God DMC2 was an awful game.
And in case this isn't obvious it goes worst to best

Yui_Suzumiya15h ago

1 and DmC. The rest are unimportant.

DarXyde15h ago

Order changes depending on your focus. I tend to focus on gameplay/fun factor, so...

5, 3, 1, 4, 2.

I really didn't like 4 but commend Dante's weapon diversity. The retreading of old ground was pretty unacceptable to me.

But even then... Still more enjoyable than 2 for me

SeTTriP6h ago

This right here is my order as I thought DMC 5 was amazing and obviously 3 comes after 4 was great and 1 for the nastilgic value it holds 2 was so terrible that my local GameStop gave full refunds to people who returned it.

Huzaifah from eXputer: "Devil May Cry 5, the latest iteration in the iconic DMC franchise by Capcom, still holds its own as a fantastic hack-and-slash in 2024."
