Finding age-appropriate gifts for gamers

It's almost a certainty if you have a child who is into video games: (s)he is going to want to biggest titles this Christmas. That means that games such as Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops II and 343 Industries' Halo 4 are probably on that list. Honestly, that's just fine -- so long as the person who the game is for is of the appropriate age for those games. (3DS, Ben 10: Omniverse, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Culture, Halo 4, Need for Speed Most Wanted, Nintendo DS, PC, PS3, Wii U, Xbox 360)

I agree that parents need to pay attention to ESRB ratings. There's nothing much more annoying than hearing some 12 year old whining over XBLA during CoD multiplayer.

Halo has always been rated M. Personally I don't know why when Uncharted is rated Teen. Halo is sci-fi, with minimal language and multicolored blood. Uncharted has a lot of sexual innuendo, a ton of violence, and mature themes.

Eh, not really. Indiana Jones films have lots of gruesome deaths... a guy's face melting, getting killed by a propeller, getting your heart ripped out, being eaten alive by ants... and yet those were only rated PG 13.
