Assassin’s Creed 3: 10 Improvements That Make It The Best In The Series

As you might already know, Assassin’s Creed 3, upon its release a few weeks ago, split its audience roughly down the middle. Some think it’s clearly the best entry into the franchise so far while others insist that, while it may be an entertaining title in itself, it offers little to no real improvement on its predecessors.

I really didn't like this game at all. I found it pretty dull and uninspired. Everything felt clunky and the missions bored me to tears. I eventually sold it after 6 hours of play and bought Borderlands 2. That's the best swap I've ever made because Borderlands 2 is probably the best FPS I've ever played, and the fact that it's an RPG too is the icing on the cake... but Assassins Creed 3 just didn't cut it. Assassins Creed 2 was great though.

I'm on sequence 8 and i haven't got any real desire to finish it :/

Ubi made some really weird decisions:

- Boring side missions that don't benefit you
- Weapon select opens up a new menu, so annoying
- Getting resources from convoys is long and a boring process
- Levelling up your assassins is pointless because you can't use them on main missions
-Boston is boring and dull

and just lots of other little things that made the game boring for me. I might just play the campaign and finish it, not bother with any side missions.

I think it was the wrong location for AC. The urban areas just didn't work for free running and its main character Connor was a boring mess that was acted equally as bad. Also the one button free running mechanic (how great an idea it may be) was bloody annoying when running in the side streets. Too many times did I try to run up a wall when I didn't mean too. They messed up with their choice of local. American Revolution just isn't the right setting for an AC game (on a side note I do wonder if the location was chosen to coincide with the american election. I just say that because its marketing campaign didn't represent the game as a whole and felt a bit odd but it makes sense with the election just around the corner).

Like we kept saying, shoulda made the game in either China, Japan, or Egypt. But noooooooo, that director just had to be arrogant and say "you don't want an AC game in Japan" because he thinks the location is overplayed as are ninjas. Ummm, how many ninja games have you seen come out this gen? How many of them set in Japan? Exactly.

I've loved the fact that the new assassin is a native american, to me it was a really cool and fresh idea, as I can't remember having ever played as one in any game before. Combat and tree navigation also looks cool as hell in this game, but so far (I'm still at the begining), that's the only compliments I can make about it. Everything else is just disappointing. The first hours, more than a slow start, were utterly boring; the combat was kept as the same annoying cakewalk of previous games (now with health regen!); the stealth wasn't improved one bit as well; the menus got worst; and the free running got simplified. Should this had came out a few years ago it would still feels fine to me, but after so long since AC2 and so many spin-offs, the formula needed a major overhaul - without it, it feels as the same thing we've been doing over and over again for the last 6 years or so. It's just not that exciting anymore...

That being said, contrary to what most people have been saying, I'm actually liking Connor so far.

Anyway, I think I'll try to rush it till the end and than sell it, so I might get Hitman instead.

I have to agree. I loved part 2, but part 3 is boring and tedious. I have little desire to finish it. The only positive thing about 3 is that it looks terrific.

Again with this site and its 10 page lists. *sigh* Well, time to spare people the time.

10. Fast Travel is Actually Fast Travel
9. Multiple Actor Motion Capture
8. Improved Clothing Threadcount
7. Free Running
6. Crowd Barging
5. Combat
4. Further Variety
3. A Much Deeper Economy
2. The Tomahawk
1. Running Assassinations

And that's the list folks.

I actually think having a free running as a positive is a joke. The mechanic has a fatal flaw when you get too close to objects with its one button free running but also, and more importantly, there isn't much free running in this game. I rarely went on to roofs because it was hard to string jumps together because of the wide open area that is Boston and NY. It was all right in the Frontier but again there wasn't any incentive to do so. Either fast travel or ride a horse to get around quickly

Also I agree I find this site annoying. Put it on two to three pages.

Tdmd1980d ago (Edited 1980d ago )

Not only that, but different from the previous games, you can't kill the sentries on the roofs without alerting every guard in the area, which is really annoying... Well, at least not in the begining, playing as Haytham (I'm not very far in the game, so I can't tell if it will be different with Connor).

I think its the worst in the series. Its just so dull, I havent played it in two weeks and now I have Hitman and Farcry coming next week I have no desire to.

And I thought there were supposted to be thousands of charactors on screen. Why do the cities feel so empty compared to the other games? (And compared to Hitman.)

Still cant believe a "stealth" game doesnt have a crouch button.

Fast travel sucks. You travel to an area exit but you dont go through it. To have to get there, then turn around, go through it, then load again, and finally youve gone to where it should have taken you in the first place.

The only part I really enjoyed was the naval battle. Really felt like I had the salty breeze in my hair. Other than that theres no reason for me not the trade this in on Farcry and I normally never trade my games.

Oh yeah, and Connors a jerk.

I'm selling my copy in the morning as I just can't be bothered finishing it! I paid £32 for it and I'm getting £30 for it so I've only lost a few quid. The sea missions are the only decent part of the game!
