IGN:Jason Brody cries out in horror the first time he watches his brother murder a man. When the sibling kills again, there’s a vulnerable tremble to Jason’s whimpering whisper. “I can’t do this, Grant.”
Great. My most anticipated game of this year. Will have lots of fun traveling around islands and swimming through the sea/ocean, fighting with sharks and tigers. One of the best wildlifes out there (AC3 and RDR were great too). A little bit tired of urban places. Fresh air we needed.
This has been my most anticipated FPS of the year.. I'm glad it got a good score from IGN, but I was gonna get it good or bad score. It's nice to have a diverse outdoor setting... sometimes just trees gets as boring as just buildings. I thought Dead Island did a good job of mixing the two.
I was going to mention Dead Island! For some reason, I now relate the two. Last year I fell in love with Dead Island, which released Sept.4th 2011, which means it wasn't quite going to be able to compete with the blockbusters that release shortly after (Gears3, and BF3 at the time) When Far Cry 3 was originally dated Sept6th 2012, I thought "Oh, no. It's a September "fuck up"" Then, they delayed! I thought "It IS a fuck up" or else they really, really want to perfect their COD-MP - which I didn't like the footage of. Since I've seen the SP free roaming gameplay!! OMG! This will be an awesome game to end my fall with, and take me through my holidays. I don't get games that I beat, and move on. I like a game I can sink into, and have it be my "staple" for some time. Far Cry is looking to have it in spades!
IGN scores Far Cry 3 - SP campaign 25-30 hours, original story and great voice cast and characters, open world and open-ended gameplay, clever AI and lots of different ways to approach objectives, graphics that blow Blops 2 out of the water. IGN verdict 9.0 COD Black Ops 2 - SP campaign 4-6 hours, no originality whatsoever, sub-hd graphics, extremely linear AI and levels (make enemeies stop spawning by moving forward), broken multiplayer, PS3 version completely broken (reviewers didn't even mention), even re-uses the same graphical assets from past games. IGN verdict 9.3. "Far Cry 3 is important for the same reason as Far Cry 2. It’s a shooter that considers shooters thoughtfully, both in the way they’re designed and the way we play them, and then asks us to do the same." COD Black Ops 2 is nothing at all like that but still gets higher scores from both IGN and Gametrailers. They didn't even bring up the glitches and the fact that the PS3 version is broken. Who do these guys write for? Us gamers or Activision, or Doritos even?? Bunch of hypocrites.
yeah this game wasn't on my radar and particular didn't have an interest after farcry 2 which was difficult to find my way around and do the side quests, although it was very fun. but then when i was seated at the eb games expo 2012 and i saw the game play i just went estactic and holy crap this game looks great on a 30m television (lol) no but seriously this turned me onto wanting this game just in one showing.
If you need fresh air then go outside.
Or get a wig :-)
I don't think he was being literal.
This game is gonna be a dark horse this year, I'm saying. The wait just got longer.
I think you're right, along with Walking Dead: The Game. It's a shame that for many gamer's, this title wasn't already on their radar, I've had my Pre-Order for age's.
Dark horse my ass... this game is a full blown contendor
I haven't played it yet so I can't say for sure, but looks promising. By dark horse I mean it's not on everyone's radar. It's off a lot of people's radars, but I think it will surprise.
The game looks absolutely stunning, I'm not surprised at all by the overwhelming reception its receiving, 10/10 from Eurogamer, 9/10 from IGN. Ubisoft truly deserve these scores for the years of work that have been poured in to the development of this sequel, coupled with the task of improving on the heavy criticism's thrown by the gaming community, Far Cry 3 is a brilliant accomplishment... Release date can't come soon enough.
Just pre-ordered it now. One of the best things about this game is that it comes out in the Europe before the US
Tell us poor Yanks how it is will you? lol
That makes a refreshing change.
very excited for this
Yeah, i buy games mostly for multiplayer and after seeing some gameplay, hate to say it but it looks like a copy and paste COD with a couple added features. So this will be a rental for me as the single player looks awesome.
A full-blown MAP CREATOR where you can spend endless amounts of time creating and playing an infinite number of new maps is "COD with a couple added features?" I guess you'd rather pay $20 every time Activision releases a new map pack for you.
OOOOOOOHHHHH WOOOOWW, A map creator, does not matter if your create a 100,000 maps or not its still a copy and paste COD. oh great the maps change. freak-in awesome, but the gameplay is still the same. Plus i also see you emphasizing that i am a COD fanboy with the last comment and i am clearly not, as a matter of fact i don’t even play COD. But however i have watch a bunch of streams and videos on the gameplay to know how it play and that is how Far Cry 3 multiplayer will play like with added features. It just gets me that every developer always copies COD and make the shooter genre weaker and weaker every year. But anyway i said my point.
What an idiot.
The MP does seem crap compared to Farcry 1, they have clearly made it like CoD on purpose, bigdaddy almost has a point but for the wrong reasons lol.
Gonna be awesome!
I love how this game is getting well deserved good scores and looks amazing yet it just proves that games like Black Ops 2 despite being worse and the same crap year after year can still get better reviews mainly because of what goes on behind closed doors. Seriously whats gaming journalism coming to these days.
Hate on Black Ops 2 all you want, but this year I was happy with Call of Duty. It's Call of Duty yes, but it's also the first Call of Duty in a long time that's hooked me back into multiplayer and I actually enjoyed the campaign quite a bit. It's a good game whether you like it or not.
So...every year people are "happy" with COD, then in a few months, most likely after Xmas into the new year you say it wasn't good as the last one or Mordern Warfare and wait untill the announcment in May then get all excited again. Thus repating the COD cycle all over again. My brother has it, it's the same old crap and even the single player lacks anything which makes a campaign good.
" It's a good game whether you like it or not." It's called an opinion and everyone has one, whether you like it or not.
Not for me, I haven't liked any of the Call of Duty games released since Modern Warfare 2 up until now. I'm not going to get into a debate about the typical Call of Duty fan because we all know how it is. You have your opinion of the game and I have mine. I actually wasn't even excited for this one either haha, been surprised by how much I've actually enjoyed it.
Well said. Anyone who believes Black Ops 2 is exactly the same as every Call of Duty game before it doesn't know what they're talking about. #KnowYourSubject #Haters
Holy poop. This game was not on my radar at all. Not been really into first person shooters lately. But after reading the review, and watching the video review, i've got to say this game looks phenomenal!
i agreed on holy poop
im buying far cry 3!!!!!!
Day one for PS3
I'm guessing they reviewed PC version or what?
I'll be buying the PC version. Looks absolutely great.
lol i've never seen so many consistently 9.0 reviews, this game is gonna be amazing
Everything seems to be shaping up well for FC3. I just hope it feels like FC1 and doesn't have the bad gunplay from FC2.
Dammit November 29 can't come soon enough. I can't wait to beat the crap out of a shark.
Absolutely way to many great games...Assassin's Creed 3, Forza Horizons, Halo 4, Black Ops 2, Hitman!!! DAMN MAN!
Nooooo Way. Is it April fools day? I refused to believe this game would be any good. From trailers, to previews, to screenshots. I thought it looked same'ol as everything else. It looked broken in alot of the preview videos. I can't believe it's getting critical acclaim. Now I have to put down CoD and go pick this up now. Damn it.
Another example of confusing review logic. I get that the single-player is awesome, and can totally see why, but considering how substandard its multiplayer component is (going by what IGN's reviewer says in no uncertain terms) it's one mark off 'perfect'? I swear some videogames websites just don't get scoring systems anymore. Numbers are fast becoming arbitrary - that, or more and more reviewers are lusting after Doritos and Mountain Dew...
Gameplay reminds of Far Cry 1, which is good :D
already preordered on Steam... just waiting to preload this insanity!
Never played a Far Cry before but this looks good, love games where your able to take different approaches to the same situation.
