IGN-Far Cry 3 Review

IGN:Jason Brody cries out in horror the first time he watches his brother murder a man. When the sibling kills again, there’s a vulnerable tremble to Jason’s whimpering whisper. “I can’t do this, Grant.”

Great. My most anticipated game of this year. Will have lots of fun traveling around islands and swimming through the sea/ocean, fighting with sharks and tigers.
One of the best wildlifes out there (AC3 and RDR were great too).

A little bit tired of urban places. Fresh air we needed.

This has been my most anticipated FPS of the year.. I'm glad it got a good score from IGN, but I was gonna get it good or bad score. It's nice to have a diverse outdoor setting... sometimes just trees gets as boring as just buildings. I thought Dead Island did a good job of mixing the two.

I was going to mention Dead Island!

For some reason, I now relate the two.

Last year I fell in love with Dead Island, which released Sept.4th 2011, which means it wasn't quite going to be able to compete with the blockbusters that release shortly after (Gears3, and BF3 at the time)

When Far Cry 3 was originally dated Sept6th 2012, I thought "Oh, no. It's a September "fuck up""
Then, they delayed! I thought "It IS a fuck up" or else they really, really want to perfect their COD-MP - which I didn't like the footage of.

Since I've seen the SP free roaming gameplay!! OMG! This will be an awesome game to end my fall with, and take me through my holidays.

I don't get games that I beat, and move on. I like a game I can sink into, and have it be my "staple" for some time. Far Cry is looking to have it in spades!

IGN scores

Far Cry 3 - SP campaign 25-30 hours, original story and great voice cast and characters, open world and open-ended gameplay, clever AI and lots of different ways to approach objectives, graphics that blow Blops 2 out of the water.
IGN verdict 9.0

COD Black Ops 2 - SP campaign 4-6 hours, no originality whatsoever, sub-hd graphics, extremely linear AI and levels (make enemeies stop spawning by moving forward), broken multiplayer, PS3 version completely broken (reviewers didn't even mention), even re-uses the same graphical assets from past games.
IGN verdict 9.3.

"Far Cry 3 is important for the same reason as Far Cry 2. It’s a shooter that considers shooters thoughtfully, both in the way they’re designed and the way we play them, and then asks us to do the same."

COD Black Ops 2 is nothing at all like that but still gets higher scores from both IGN and Gametrailers. They didn't even bring up the glitches and the fact that the PS3 version is broken.

Who do these guys write for? Us gamers or Activision, or Doritos even?? Bunch of hypocrites.

yeah this game wasn't on my radar and particular didn't have an interest after farcry 2 which was difficult to find my way around and do the side quests, although it was very fun. but then when i was seated at the eb games expo 2012 and i saw the game play i just went estactic and holy crap this game looks great on a 30m television (lol) no but seriously this turned me onto wanting this game just in one showing.

If you need fresh air then go outside.

This game is gonna be a dark horse this year, I'm saying.
The wait just got longer.

I think you're right, along with Walking Dead: The Game.

It's a shame that for many gamer's, this title wasn't already on their radar, I've had my Pre-Order for age's.

Nimblest-Assassin1341d ago

Dark horse my ass... this game is a full blown contendor

Chuk51341d ago

I haven't played it yet so I can't say for sure, but looks promising. By dark horse I mean it's not on everyone's radar. It's off a lot of people's radars, but I think it will surprise.

Kingdom Come1341d ago (Edited 1341d ago )

The game looks absolutely stunning, I'm not surprised at all by the overwhelming reception its receiving, 10/10 from Eurogamer, 9/10 from IGN. Ubisoft truly deserve these scores for the years of work that have been poured in to the development of this sequel, coupled with the task of improving on the heavy criticism's thrown by the gaming community, Far Cry 3 is a brilliant accomplishment...

Release date can't come soon enough.

Just pre-ordered it now. One of the best things about this game is that it comes out in the Europe before the US

Swiggins1341d ago

Tell us poor Yanks how it is will you? lol
