Nintendo Already Raking in Wii U Profits

Tynan Muddle a Aussie-Gamer.com says: It’s been well cited that Nintendo Wii U is so cheap, the company is selling it at a loss. But Nintendo of America President Reggie Flis-Aime says the gaming giant has a better way to make profit.

And all it takes is one game sale.

It's weird - I'm in downtown Chicago and every single Toys R Us, Walmart, and Target have plentiful amounts. It's like nobody is buying the damn thing here.

You might be delusional. Why don't you just stay in the store from morning to night and see if you are right. lol :)

HebrewHammer1379d ago

Don't need to apparently. I've been on the fence about getting one since launch. Every store I've called, except GameStop seems to have them in stock. By all means, search the aforementioned stores in the 60614 area - they've got 'em. I've even called to make sure. Hell, the closest Target has 23 Deluxe versions just sitting there.

Do you live in Chicago with him? No one is even mentioning this system right now. All focus is on PS4 and Xbox Durango. People drank the Kool Aid with the Wii and have regretted it, so why would they consider buying an obvious under-powered system when compared to the others. PS3 and 360 prices have dropped and consumers are not looking at Nintendo right now. Hell, even the Vita sold okay at launch and stalled soon after. Now they are selling a Liberation bundle Vita for $199

Moonman1379d ago

I think his point was they may have had them in stock but it doesn't mean they were not selling.

FunAndGun1379d ago (Edited 1379d ago )

Well I can't find one out in the burbs of Chicago, even the white WiiU's are gone.

Might have to make a trip downtown!

Thanks HebrewHammer, will check it out. Helpful bub.

The one with a bunch is Mid North Target I believe.

Nerdmaster1379d ago

If a console sells out, people say that the company is stupid for not putting enough units on sale. If there are enough units on sale, people say that nobody is buying them...

Moonman1379d ago

Exactly. Don't use logic around fanboys. haha

MasterCornholio1379d ago (Edited 1379d ago )

Theres plenty of stores in Madrid with the Wii U in stock which is odd because i thought there would be an extreme shortage. launch like the Wii. But I guess that having a price point close to current Gen consoles could be one of the reasons for this.

It's because they're selling old tech at a high price. The only thing advanced about the wii u is the controller.

deafdani1379d ago

You didn't even read the article, did you?

sandman2241379d ago

No............I just went off the title on this article. Good job!

chukamachine1379d ago

I heard they were selling at a loss.

badz1491379d ago

but there was no mention about how much the loss is and how much does 1 console cost to make compared to it's $300 price tag! as for me, I don't believe even a bit that Nintendo is willing to take a loss on anything! look at the damn thing...the spec is underwhelming for something that cost $300!

MegaLagann1379d ago

I don't know if there's still Wii Us in stock in my town (don't care to check) but they'll all be gone soon. Black Friday is coming...
