Lego Lord of the Rings Review - Hobbit of Fun | Metro
Metro: "Another top notch Lego game and one that surpasses other Tolkien tie-ins, and most other movie adaptations, in terms of both fun and, unbelievably, authenticity."
(LEGO Lord of the Rings, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)
7/10
I tried to play the demo on 3DS. I... couldn't get into it. What's the appeal of these games? The humor? What's the point of making everything made out of legos if you can't actually, you know, play with the legos and build stuff with 'em?
For the most part its the world & the movie references. Lego Harry Potter was the first game that truly felt like Harry Potter & exploring the castle and collecting all the character's you've seen and read about is cool. So I guess that's the appeal
I wouldn't judge this game too much on the 3DS version the handheld games are never as good
And if that's the appeal... hm, I can't really see it too well. I think the original trilogy of games did a pretty good job bringing the movies to life. As much as I'd love to play a good LotR game, I guess I'll have to wait for either another PJ collaboration or for the FotR/TT/RotK trilogy to get an HD port.
Lego games were always meant to be for entertainment purposes without any serious refinement but this one stands out for me because The Lord of Rings Trilogy is soo dam great and the game does a pretty good job at it.
