Jacob Mazel of VGChartz writes: In the wake of the strong software releases for Wii, PSP, and PS3 DS software was starting to become less prominent in the preliminary data. That trend is over this week as nearly half the titles in the data are found on the DS. It also appears that the benefit of Sony's big software titles such as Desgaea 3, Devil May Cry 4, Tales of Destiny: Director's Cut, and Winning Eleven (PSP) have all seen their influence wane significantly this month. Come next week it looks as though all of these titles will be selling below 15,000 units.
-Smash Brothers remained the top selling title for this week selling another 100,000+ units in its third week of sales. At a minimum the title will hit 1.5 million units in Japan alone.
-DS sold much more software than PSP this week, but it will be neck and neck with PSP this week. PSP continues to carve out solid hardware sales despite the general lack of strongly selling software.
-While Wii hardware continues to be elevated on Smash and Wii Fit, other platforms continue to drop toward seasonal averages.
Total Predicted Hardware Sales:
Wii: 70,000 to 80,000 units range
PSP: 65,000 to 75,000 units range
DSL: 65,000 to 75,000 units range
PS3: 15,000 to 20,000 units range
PS2: 8,000 to 12,000 units range
360: 2,000 to 4,000 units range
