Launch day titles for consoles are generally poorly veiled attempts at showing of the cool new gimmicks that the new piece of hardware is capable of. Often, this leads to shallow minigame collections (like Little Deviants for the Vita) or legitimately interesting games that are brought down by their insistence on cramming as many features as possible into the experience (like Uncharted: Golden Abyss, also for the Vita). ZombiU, however, shows off the Wii U’s feature set by making all of those things both essential to the experience and fun to use. 4.2/5
Good, I am glad more and more people are able to see how great of an experience this game is, instead of just calling out that it's not the most prettiest of games, or that the melee is a little repetitive. Like any FPS isn't repetitive, aim, shoot, run down the line, aim, shoot, run down the line. At least this game tasks you with trying to come up with different ways to handle the situation.
I am having a blast with it, and I love the lighting and mood that the game creates. It's brutally hard at times too. 30 minutes into the game, just after I started feeling comfortable with myself and started thinking that this game wasn't that challenging, I got swarmed and proceeded to die 4 times over the next 10-15 minutes.
