Destructoid Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale Review: A Smashing Good Time

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale has some big shoes to fill. While the arena battle genre isn't exactly bursting at the seams these days, the inevitable cloud of Super Smash Bros. looms over Sony in more ways than they care to admit.

Most of you probably just want me to outright tell you whether or not All-Stars is as good as Smash Bros. and be done with it. Nope, I'm not going to answer that -- All-Stars should be judged on its own merits. (PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, PS Vita, PS3) 9/10

The game is fun as long as you aren't playing the game for the sole purpose to see if it's better than Smash. I'm not surprised by this score at all.

After seeing all these scores I cant wait for my copy to come from Amazon. Unfortunately I did not have a chance to play the beta but I heard great things about it from people so I preordered it last minute yesterday lol. This is going to be an exciting gaming experience!!!

Same here. Pre-ordered my copy so I can get the alternate costumes!

Now I have Book of Spells n PSABR to help me over the 2012 handover to 2013.

good score for a really fun game, the beta was amazing and since you can get the vita version for free with the ps3 version it looks to be a real winner here.

Looks like yet another hit for Sony.

I guess the check from Sony did not bounce...j/k. My son begged for this game after playing the beta. This will be a nice digital stocking stuffer for him.

Very solid game. After playing the beta I was sure of it....

i dont trust dtoid anymore.. Yes this & the last few reviews from PS games have been good from them but i take what they say very lightly.. Im buying this no matter what it scores however i doubt its a 9..

"Superb: A hallmark of excellence. There may be flaws, but they are negligible and won't cause massive damage to what is a supreme title."

There are some sites that will nit pick those negligible flaws, and actually flesh them out just to dramatically lower the score. Which is unfair because it may put people off from buying it, and thus we won't see future releases.
