US Wii U owners are reporting that, contrary to claims from Nintendo, the newly released console upscales original Wii games to be displayed in HD resolution.
The functionality was noted by a NeoGAF user, who points out that while Wii games aren't displayed in native 1080p, they are cleaned up and noticeably sharper when played on the Wii U.
thats not what i can call a "nice" surprise...
Only a week and a half to go and I get mine.
if somehow anyone makes a console that can upscale a game to 702p or 1080p right out of the box than we wouldn't need more HD collections lol.
is it even possible to make a system that can automatically upscale? within a reasonable price point?
hopefully sony or ms will look into it
Reason being i sold ps3 and 360 machines a while back to fund a pc, so with the wii u filling the gap now im happy with what i see from gameplay and players commentary.

Xenoblade, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Zelda SS, Mario Galaxy, etc.

Dolphin runs in native resolutions, whatever you set it at. It's not upscaling anything.
some people cant tell the difference with video quality.
i remember i went into a game shop to buy an RGB cable for my wii (before i had a tv with a component input) and the guy told me the RGB cable would give me absolutely no upgrade in visual quality over the standard cable. I told him it would- i used RGB cables on every computer since dreamcast, and the quality at the time was the best you could get.
Anyway, got home, and low and behold, the rgb did vastly improve the wii video quality.
the same will be true of using wii games through a hdmi output. hdmi is superior to the componant output of the original wii, so the image quality will be better. the colour will be cleaner, less noise. Plus, the image will be upscaled.
its a win win situation, i dont know why anyone other than an idiot, or troll would say otherwise
:D
If you value slightly better color depth over a more crisp image so much then yes.
