Wii U Launch Games Already Discounted

Nintendo’s Wii U is off to an interesting start. It’s been on sale a few days now in the US (with the European and Japanese launches happening in the next few weeks), but some US retailers are already selling the Wii U’s launch games at a discounted price. (Wii U)

This whole week is discounted prices moron. Nintendo chose the perfect week to launch with pre-Black Friday deals.

Perhaps the author is not aware of the drastic decline video games have been suffering from recently. All are not immune to sales deprivation and with Black Friday amung us what better way to usher in a new era!

The problem with the Author and this article is that they interjected their opinion. Is this news? Well I think plenty of people would love to know there is a deal, but they don't do that. Instead they state the reason to be " impression that the Wii U’s games a just worth less than those around it." It's things like this that make people hate "game journalists".

@Admiralvic...that's my point exactly but I guess you didn't see it that way...

Exactly. People don't just buy Wii U stuff either.

What else can you buy at Target? Hmm, well their competitor is Wal*Mart so, I guess maybe...clothes, food, staples, etc, etc.

These aren't developer decisions, it's retailer decisions.

How many people know that retailers are willing to take a loss to get you in the door, in order to sell you other stuff?

We're also entering into an area where it's Black Friday Week. Used to be day after xmas. Then Black Friday and Day after xmas. Then black fiday, day after xmas, and cyber monday. Now add in black friday WEEK, and who knows maybe next year it's everyday between mid-november to january 1st. We're literally not that far away.

The 40% off games was a Launch day promotion by Toys R Us. Worthless article.

Wow....... LOL that's all I can say about this article....

First off, downvoted and I hope others join me. Second off, this is NOT unheard of or even unique to the Wii U. The Vita had B2G1 free at Target for the launch week (or the week after), so that already debunks that part. Finally, do you have any idea how to run a retail store... at all? Nintendo pushes out a new console, you want people at your store, you offer special deal. This is hardly rocket science and shouldn't be more than simple common sense. I mean whats next, Nintendo has lost faith because Old Navy is offering New Super Mario Bros. U for free with 50 dollar purchase?
