The Wii U is Out! What Do We Think?

BT writes:

We hope you enjoyed BT’s first official hardware review for the Wii U. However, I bet some of you are wondering if Blistered Thumbs is going to run a traditional, scored review of Nintendo’s newest home console. That’s a fair question, so I wanted to write up a quick post to address it. (Nintendo, Wii U)

The Wii U is Out! What Do We Think?
After buying a GameCube, Wii and Xbox 360 on Day 1 what I think about the WiiU is... I'm going to wait until it either has 1) a killer app, 2) a price drop, 3) proof of ongoing third party support.

Until it meets one or two of those criteria, I'll wait thanks.

Do what you want, that's the main thing, but on your three issues I would say this...

1) waiting for a killer app is kind of unrealistic. Wait for something that is killer to you should be what you wait for. (you may mean that, but it's different that a generic...killer app). Which also would be a game, not an app.

2) understandable, but it won't be anytime soon. A year at least, and more likely 1 1/2 years. The whole price drop thing is based off a recent but rare move by Nintendo. As long as you're not one of those thinking 'it'll have a price drop in a few months like the 3DS' you'll be fine. Not saying you are ofc.

3) Well you can already tell it will. It can handle any of the engines that will be out next generation, thus the Wii U will get versions of those games with similar capability. It won't have the prettiest graphics, but you'll still get to play them, and in HD.

Devs won't leave money on the table when a machine is capable of running Battlefield 4, CoD BLOPS 3, Mass Effect 4,5,6. If games like these are important to you, it's obvious they will be on it. I would also expect versions of Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell, and basically every new iteration of an IP from developers who've already made games on the Wii U....so anything from Ubisoft, EA, Gearbox, Activision, etc, etc.

Do what you want, no need to rush, just adding clarification of those three points you put out.
