"Bitter disappointment would have to be the mildest way of describing my feelings regarding the majority of the current-gen versions of Sonic the Hedgehog.
They lacked the pizzazz of the older Sonic games that I had grown up with and come to love, not to mention the silliness of the controls and the plot lines, even for a game about a hedgehog who runs at the speed of sound.
Sonic Generations rekindles the fires of nostalgia by bringing the best of both worlds together in the form of “classic” and “modern” Sonic. The former holds true and reinvigorates the 2D gameplay style of the Sega Genesis era of Sonic games, while the latter tweaks the most recent games and polishes them up so they focus more on speed and less on plot mechanics."
