Because the next generation won't come until 5-10 years from now. We are now in a new generation making the PS3/360 technically last generation. I am guessing Sony will announce their new console, possibly under a codename like they did the Vita next year. It is also possible for Microsoft as well given the 360 launched 7 years ago.

I don't care what "Gen" it is. I got mine, and am enjoying the hell out of it. And that is what matters. The system IS fun, so it's just too bad for you if you want to miss out on some new gaming experiences. That is your choice, and I'm sure you are just fine with that.

This Next-Gen isn't much grasping as the beginning of this Gen of consoles. Im not like wow that's an improvement from last Gen. But it is what it is.

It's going to attract the indie devs. It won't cost them 30k to update their game because it will be free and they choose the price for their games while Nintendo takes a small share.
