No dedicated servers support for Far Cry 3: Ubisoft
Ubisoft has officially confirmed that Far Cry 3 multiplayer won't arrive with dedicated server support. The announcement was made by Ubisoft's Community Manager MSV-Vextor
(Far Cry 3, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)
He didnt say all console games dont have dedicated servers. He said console games arent known to have dedicated servers meaning not every game has dedicated servers.
There was supposed to be but it got cancelled. I pre-ordered this for the multi-player side only as well unfortunatly, now i'm going to rent it before I buy it.
MP was the best thing about the original, still brilliant SP though.
No doubt this time they will have put a lot of work into the MP and left the SP dragging behind a little bit (it should still be better than most FPSs these days), no point buying it without dedicated servers unless the single player is unmissable because the MP is destroyed by that alone.
I think the world they made looks great, but I worry that it will get stale real fast like Far Cry 2....and that single-player experience was very underwhelming. The map editor was the thing I was looking forward to the most honestly. And that isn't fun to play if people on your list aren't playing this game...or own it for that matter.
I am probably going to cancel my pre-order and see what it plays like with a rental first...The multiplayer mode isn't going to topple any of the larger titles numbers anyways.
Plus its a console ports, console games arent known to have dedicated servers, the standards just are low.
