Honestly, I am not trying to brag. I have three platforms.. Xbox 360 (just got it), PS3, and PC. PS3 seems to be the platform with the most lag, xbox being 2nd. But.. When I play on PC, I experience absolutely NO lag. =/ Anyone here play this on PC that can confirm this? My friends and I are experiencing the same thing.

decrypt4171d ago

PC version has dedicated servers. Hence if a close up server is chosen it can be lead to very stable game play.

On topic,

I dont believe COD has peaked or will peak for the foreseeable future, the reason is because its the only 9v9 shooter on console that does 60fps.

60fps to a console gamer looks very smooth gameplay, they dont get it from any other shooter. Hence its their only choice.

When choice is so limited to only 1 game for smooth 9v9 game play, its obvious the game will sell loads.

Notice on PC the game is no where close to being the number one game played. Its only on console. Hence the theory is because of smooth gameplay.

I been saying this for a while:

Console gamers.. dont care about graphics.

COD selling millions is a testament.

emartini4171d ago (Edited 4171d ago )

Call of Duty selling millions is do to its simplicity. Simple formula. Its arcadesh and easy to get into. Call of Duty is more of a casual fan base now. Little Jimmy wants COD cause all the cool kids have it. 9 on 9 60fps has very little to do with it. That whole 60fps argument can go out the window now due to new consoles being released next year. BF series already looks a million times better on consoles next year BF4 will be 60 fps on the new consoles too. Alot of harcore gamers either went to BF3 or stayed on mw2. What innovation will COD come up with now??? As a franchise CoD for the hardcore gamer peaked at mw2. Down hill from there. Its bigger then ever now cause of the casual fan base. Just like the nintendo wii outselling ps3 and 360. COD is the Nintendo Wii of First person shooters and bf is like the ps3 and 360 of 1st person shooters

RickHiggity4171d ago

@decrypt. Most of my friends who play the game don't even know what frames per second is, so I doubt that's the reason.

Rob Hornecker4172d ago

I hate to say it,but every game has lag issues! Even more so if its as popular as a CoD game can be.
As to the question that is being asked in the story...YES it has peaked. To come out with a more of the same old same old each and every year will make a game series stale as a 2 week loaf of bread!
Atleast the CoD series has 2 different studios working on there games, but with that being said,I haven't seen either one of them try and take the game to the next level. Perhaps its time to give the series a break till the next gen consoles come out. It has worked well for Battlefield, which IMHO seems to get better with every release.

ceedubya94171d ago

I think it is difficult to really suggest that the top selling series every year should take a break.

Rob Hornecker4171d ago

There will always be CoD fans and they will expect to see a new CoD game every year. Its a cash cow!

The sad part is the it looks as if EA/Dice will be doing the same with Battlefield 4 ,and 5,6,ect.

Steadyhndz4171d ago

Counter Strike doesn't have lag issues, BF3 doesn't have lag issues, Quake doesn't have lag issues, COD 1, 2, 4, MW2, BOps and MW3 doesn't have lag issues....When everyone is complaining of lag issues in a game....it's a lag issue. When people with crappy internet complain of lag issues, it's their internet, not the game.

FarCryLover1824171d ago

The lag is the worst thing ever in this game. This is the first COD bought in a while and I was hoping to have some fun. The lag makes it unplayable online.

bubblebeam4171d ago

CoD isn't the only game. I haven't played CoD online since MW1 or MW2, and it was Okay, which is to say you get lag some games, and good connection others (albeit, more lag then not).

Halo 4 suffers from major lag issues as well. I'm glad to say it isn't just me this time. Even in game chat I hear more and more people complaining about lag.

I think CoD has peaked this gen, but next gen I think it will come back strong again, in which case my interest might rise in the series.

AllroundGamer4171d ago

that's because there are no dedicated servers...

Bathyj4171d ago

cod peaked with cod2 for me

vikingland14171d ago

I don't play COD but it seems to me if it keeps selling like crazy every release then no it hasn't peaked. When the sales stop being so high then I would say it has.

Xbox $70 billion bet paid out

fr0sty252d ago

Guess that's what happens when there's no good new games to play...

4Sh0w252d ago (Edited 252d ago )

Well regardless of exclusives, or whatever else there is to play on Xbox or ps, CoD has has still been the top selling game on ps platform since forever also.....so no surprise that the most popular game franchise on any console could easily have a revival due to servers coming back online...this is just credit to xbox backwards compatibility & thats good thing for Xbox gamers.

wiz7191252d ago

@Frosty orrrr maybe it’s a breath of fresh air to be able to go back to the peak of the series .. and it’s beem great lol

mkis007252d ago

It's going to take 10 years for xbox to generate that much profit...

Rhythmattic251d ago

Why worry when they have OS, Server and Background Data in their hands...
Gaming is just the small piece, at the top left in a few K piece jigsaw.

EasilyTheBest251d ago

If you buy a house with cash for 1 million dollars you still own the house. Microsoft don't need to make the money back.

Rhythmattic249d ago

But its not money back, its about how it goes missing.

jznrpg252d ago

Shooters is what Xbox people play most of the time and that’s about it by the numbers and sales of games.

shinoff2183252d ago

Atkeast older gamers nostalgia is good. Jeez.

Jin_Sakai252d ago

Mostly because the new CoD games are garbage. The old games were much better.

Rutaprkl251d ago

Agree 100%. Cod 4, WaW, Black ops 1 & 2, those were the days.

Rhythmattic251d ago

For MP, Unreal tournament , QIII Arena (loved the UT mod) FTW!

RaidenBlack251d ago

Unreal Tournament and Quake III were simply amazing ... CoD's and CoD-likes' rise killed the arena shooter popularity ...
Unreal Tournament 2004 is my favorite in the series.
Didn't enjoy Unreal Tournament III, Quake Champions that much.
Too bad Epic cancelled Unreal Tournament 2014 becoz of Fortnite

Rhythmattic251d ago (Edited 251d ago )

I got hooked on the QIII Urban Terror mod (and my work colleagues I introduced them to)... LAN Sessions at the closing of the doors at work, into the night , sinking beers and eating pizza..... Good times.

thesoftware730252d ago

Wow, good games never get old I guess.

CoD will always be a beast of a franchise, and how awesome is it that you can just boot it up or pop it into your Xbox and play, MS BC is really a neat feature.

CrimsonWing69252d ago

Shows you that backwards compatibility is a worthwhile feature.

1Victor251d ago

@crimson:” Shows you that backwards compatibility is a worthwhile feature.”
I agree it’s worthy at the start of the generation when there’s few new generation games but halfway through the generation it’s not a feature.
Now it’s good that this game is finding a renewed life for its fan but it shows a mayor flaw in new games release when a close decade old game is toppling the charts

CrimsonWing69251d ago

I don't know if I understand what you mean. It's a feature regardless of the time into the generation.

Let's take Armored Core 6 for example. Let's say I'm interested in checking out the previous Armored Core games, sure would be nice if I could play them on my current-gen console.

We're about 3 years into current-gen and old games are hitting in the top 5 for sales charts in the month.

I do get where you're coming from with older games possibly being better than the newer games, but the feature stays the feature. I can only speak for myself, but when there's a lull in game releases or nothing great is out, I like to go back to old titles. It's just nice to not have to have a bunch of consoles out to do so.

I think moving forward it'll be less and less of an issue as like with the PS5 you can access most all of the PS4 games, but I like going back to PS1 and PS2. Would be awesome to kind of make backwards compatibility a prioritized feature moving forward. Hell, Sony was the first to implement it.
