To finally be able to browser the Web and not have to quit the game I'm playing sounds great. A much needed update to the Vita.

Good week for the Vita and Gamers alike.

browsing for game hints and looking at Gamefaq without having shut down the game is a big thing for me.

They need to do something similar with the PS3 browser, at least remake it into a dedicated app or something...

Wont happen on the PS3.

The PS3 has its resources divided over 256MB of Ram for video and 256MB for the system - which means the PS3 has no memeroy to implement this, also hence the reason we dont have party chat on the PS3.

Will it play HTML 5 videos?

kopicha1980d ago

will wait and see. the web browser is suppose to have improve HTML5 support as well as Javascript to ensure webpage are being displayed correctly. It also uses GPU to improve rendering for the browser. An interesting upgrade. Will know the answers tomorrow.

The update video on the psblog suggests that the vita rendering engine was being tweeked to support HTML and JAVA. So i assume it will be able to, ofcourse i am not entirely sure.

But on topic, this is great news. Having to quit a game to access the browser has been a very inconvenient experience, and i am glad a solution is finally on the cards. Furthermore these are the types of updates that make the vita sexier and more importantly useful.

Now texting support in skype and we'll be good.

Think you'll have to talk to MS about texting support for Skype. Would be nice though. My fiancee was going to buy into a Skype plan for me to use on Vita so I could have something to double as a mobile(I have the 3G model)but got turned away a little by the fact that the Skype app doesn't support texting.
