Gameinformer-ZombiU Review:A Bad Start For New Wii U IP

GI:When the Wii released back in 2006, Ubisoft delivered a new IP called Red Steel on launch day. The game aimed to highlight the console’s motion controls with first-person shooting and gunplay. Unfortunately, the sloppy aiming and slashing instead foreshadowed how much the FPS genre would struggle on the console. Ubisoft is back again for with a new game that shoehorns in all the bells and whistles of Nintendo’s latest console. Instead of an exciting showcase of the Wii U’s interesting new technology, ZombiU demonstrates just how bad survival horror can get. 5/10

A lot of the issues from the lower reviews, that I have seen, are not the game itself, but instead the poor implementation of Wii U features. The tablet is one touch only and doesn't work well so they have a lot of issues with it, especially since the game doesn't pause. This makes it frustrating when you need to get in your bag or do minigames while zombies are coming for you.

Isn't this such the case with Demon's Souls? Looking through the reviews, I can certainly say the game does have the winning formula but is unable to apply it properly on the game. My guess is that it wants to be played like DayZ but ended up being played as a L4D/Borderlands hybrid.

There's no future for the Wii U, it's dead on arrival, its traditional market has now been dominated by PS3 and 360s, the price is high and additional expensive storage is needed.
It's very tough for the consumer to justify a new system that's going to cost him around $400, and $60 for each game, when there are cheaper PS3s with the same functionality and hundreds of stellar games for 10, 20 dollars and whole series for $40.

Nah most reviews are positive ive seen more reviews over 80% than anything else im happy with it but on Nintendo everything the black ops wiiu footage look amazing just like pc wow im getting black ops/fifa/mario u/and maybe another game not sure.

I have no clue what to think. I'm going to get NSMBU instead of this game. I'm going to wait a little bit to see what users think of the game and then I might buy it. Based on reviews though, I can't decide if it's worth buying. Reviews are everywhere.

I played the demo for it in the store at walmart and it was pretty bad in my opinion.Todays standards are very high and I have a feeling that people are going to have a bad taste in there mouth with the new Wii-U once purchased.I just couldnt get comfortable with the controller at all.Its just a another nintendo gimmick to me that will burn out fast in sales a few months in.The graphics arent as good as they say they are as well.I think most games are going to look a little dated to what we are use to.This might be next gen for nintendo but its old gen for those who have been playing current gen for the last few years.

Just rent it for 1 night, if you like it then you only spent say $4 more extra but if you don't like it you saved $56.

I think this is a game made for gamers that actually like challenge, and don't have the ADD/desire to shoot something every five seconds. The reviewers that like this seem to be the ones that hate crap like RE6 and the ones that hate ZombiU seem to have liked RE6 a little better.

Mixed game for sure, but I think it's made for those that like an actual challenge, and use strategy over just firing again and again.

Just because the game gets a few positive reviews doesn´t mean that its a good game. Just look at Resistance Burning Skies which has 10 positive reviews but it has a metacritic of 60.

Just because ZombiU is a launch title for the WiiU doesn´t mean that its immune from being a bad game. Some people have to accept this and move on because in the future the Wii U will have its share of great games and horrible games.

Slapping Nintendo on a console doesn´t mean that all the games for it will be good.

P.S IF a game flops for your beloved console (PS3, XBOX360, WiiU) just accept that its a bad game and move on with your lives. If Zombi U is a horrible game than so be it the only reason why people are defending it to the grave is because it was one of the most highly anticipated launch titles. Just play Mario Bros U which is a great game compared to this.

Some reviewers seem to think the tedium, lack of good story and questionable graphics aren't worth lowering the score and some seem to think otherwise. The bad ones do sound like they make some good points but it won't matter anyway. Most people will close their ears to the bad scores anyway. Any bad score just means the reviewer doesn't know what he is talking about. How he said that changing of characters due to death give you no commitment towards any one and therefore lessens the experience. I said that the first time I heard about that mechanic and he seems to echo my concerns.

@ Mikito11. No matter how any of us deny it we have to look at the bad scores as well as the good ones too. I don't like to do it either but everyone's opinion of the game counts too no matter what anyone thinks. People harp on about the good reviews so why can't anyone harp on about the bad ones too?

It was written "mediocre" all over it, though. You could have seen that coming from the trailers, and gameplay videos. It looks okay, but not something spectacular. I'd rather play War Z, honestly.

So only Gameinformer and IGN have given it a midrange score that I have seen thus far, and that means its a bad start? All those 7's, 8's and 9's don't look bad to me. Then again I've always made up my own mind. There's been so many games "critics" have panned and I've had a brilliant time with them. You follow what critics say and your gunna miss out on some great gaming.

There is not one game that I want to b lay on the WiiU. This game was my last hope.

Oh, and I tried the kiosk Rayman game on WiiU..... And the screen on the controller seemed really really gimmicky to me.
