How moderated is Miiverse? It's a police state

Destructoid - "We have checked the reported content and determined that it is not in violation of the Miiverse Code of Conduct," reads the notification sent via Miiverse. "The content has been reposted, and all restrictions have been lifted."

Perhaps this means reported content is automatically removed, to be reviewed later? Or maybe the pressure from the oppressed proletariat moved the powers into action! Who knows? All I know is, I'm drinking the sweet fluid of freedom. Freedom Fluid!]

Uhh....it's nice that they reviewed it, BUT WHY would they delete that in the first place?

nikola9871983d ago

It was reported by other users... As soon as nintendo reviewed it, it was back online.

SilentNegotiator1983d ago

Then it should say "deleted by some idiots in the community"

nikola9871983d ago

@SilentNegotiator: Users can not delete messages. They can only report them.

SilentNegotiator1983d ago (Edited 1983d ago )

So then you are saying that Nintendo DID review it the first time and decided to delete it?

Because it's either that or some idiots in the "Wii U community" voted it down or reported it to the point that it was automatically deleted.

The miiverse most likely deletes anything "reported" a certain number of times atomatically and then it is reviewed. If it is not truely offensive it is put back.

Someone either

A) Thought it was a spoiler

or

B) Took it completely out of context from the words "Shut Up Idiot"

I have a feeling many will be complaining about the moderating process since people think they can say whatever they want versus the other half that will complain about good old common sense. You can't say whatever you want but it also takes common sense to realize this comment from Jim Sterling was harmless which is why it's back up.

Hm kinda like N4G.Still using this archaic bubble speech system and not being allowed to swear or freely speak your opinion sincce they burst your bubble and mark you off as trolling or bad language.

It's like a north korea POW camp around here lol

SilentNegotiator1983d ago (Edited 1983d ago )

Bubbles used to change faster and easier and there was a section for idiot trolls to say the dumbest crap without wasting anyone's time in the "gamer zone" (or whatever it was called). It wasn't perfect, but trolls didn't run around with SIX TO EIGHT FREAKING BUBBLES for months and users clearly had a more democratic control over the community.

The problem is NOT the users, it's actually users having LESS control. Biased mods and multi-account trolls that decide that trolls with 5 agrees and 50 disagrees deserve a bubble for the comment and users with comments that get 50 agrees and 5 disagrees are "trolling"....are the a real issue.

@Jelly
Users that say sane, non-fanboy things do fine. Plenty of 360-prefering users have 5-6 bubbles.

ronin4life1983d ago (Edited 1983d ago )

I have been here at least 2 years and have changed little in approach to commenting or opinion. I kept 5 bubbles throughout.

In the last 2 or so months, I have lost 2 bubbles nearly back to back. I started losing them while posting in 3ds/vita sales articles I believe... though I can't be certain. My memory is [email protected]@

Now, here lately I am spammed by disagrees and have obtained quite a few "followers" ... while it may just be paranoia, I can't help but feel targeted based on the general mentality of the populace here. Especially when my comments are always well though out and logical.
