Happy birthday Sam Fisher; Splinter Cell turns 10 years old

Man, it’s been ten years since the debut of Sam Fisher on Microsoft’s console, Xbox. Splinter Cell was meant to be Microsoft’s answer to Sony’s Metal Gear Solid franchise. Thus, Splinter Cell was advertised as the best third-person stealth game. And oh boy was it an incredible experience. Packed with amazing visuals for its time, Splinter Cell quickly became the epitome of third-person stealth games. Fast forward a couple of years, and here we are today with new Splinter Cell games that are more action-oriented than its predecessors. But let’s forget about this and let’s wish Sam Fisher happy birthday, shall we? (GameCube, PC, PS2, PS3, Splinter Cell, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow, Wii U, Xbox, Xbox 360)

Splinter Cell did everything right for pure stealth gameplay

so true. I really hope that Blacklist will return to the franchise's roots, though I doubt it

if you so desire you can play pure stealth. They did a pure stealth demo because everyone cried during the E3 demo when they wanted to show off new features. Only thing I don't like about Blacklist is Ironside isn't Fisher anymore =[

one of the best franchises ever , all 3 games gave me some of my finest days in gaming especially Chaos theory

note: xbox 1 versions were the definitive ones, ps2 and GC were fine but nowhere near xbox 1 level

Agree and disagree with your 'note' section.
Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos Theory were both definitive console versions; however, I liked the GC version of the original more because the CG intro--whereas the Xbox version just have Lambert tell you the situation in Georgia--and the extra mission.

Ah Chaos Theory, such an amazing game. Let's hope that Blacklist will be as good as it was

There truly is no hope based upon what I have seen of the gameplay. Maxime Berland said sam fisher in 1-3 was like playing a Grandma. I have never heard a lead designer insult the core fanbase and sell out to make games like conviction. Only way I possible play it is for spies vs mercs.

Thank You PS3 for putting out the HD Splinter Cell Trilogy.

Loved all this series when it was still on the original XBox and used to play and re-play it a lot of times.

Now I get to do it all over again and in 3D.

Looking forward to Blacklist. Was very impressed when I saw the demo game play over here at Expo 2012 in Oz. It's great the game still employs a lot of the themes that I loved in the original series and added a ton of new innovations and the look of the game is spectacular.

I'm looking forward to the Blacklist one; for some reason i tend to get bored with every level requiring stealth elements, not to mention if you give me gadgets in a game then "force" me to use them...

i hate to be able to get through a game only using 2-3 weapons or gadgets when i have the option to use like 15...and before anyone says "you're just playing it wrong." i beg to differ...if you give me 2 sticky cams then i'm inclined to not waste them on the 1st 2 guys i encounter at the beginning of a level thinking i may need them for later, but by the time i'm inclined to use them the level is already over and some weapons don't carry over..."gee thanks, that was fun."...
i can literally get through the whole game just using my silenced pistol...everything else is a novelty, except for 1 or 2 exceptions from time to time...so this is why i'm looking forward to Blacklist as it is more action and less stealth; perhaps a nice balance, we'll see.

Hitman > SP

But the first 3 Splinter Cell games were very good, each improving greatly from the previous. This generation's splinter cell series = big pile of pig $h!t.

Happy birthday Sam.

I'm sorry that conviction drove us apart. At least we'll always have the Panama bank. Good times.
