I find this article to funny. Gamestop did a Midnight launch for the 3DS when it first released and Pokemon black & white. I attended both and the 3DS midnight wasn't as robust as most people would have expected.

They might not being doing one because of the fact that most people will be walking out of a Gamestop with close to $500 dollars worth of merchandise at night and it would be a tragedy to find out someone was robbed or killed for a system they just bought. The system is in high demand. I understand the Nintendo store is having one, but I'm sure they can find more officers to be there at all times.

Good point. On top of that, they can sell it on Ebay for almost twice as much to the desperate last second Christmas shoppers with spoiled kids. It's win/win for them and I hope they go to hell.

The point still stands that they are getting away with not doing it for this one, regardless of what they've done before. There's no way they would have pulled this for the new Xbox, especially after the huge midnight launch for Halo 4.

So, the "danger" of midnight releases suddenly only applies now? What about all the other launches for systems and games they've done?

Times change? Seriously, what kind of question is that?

Godchild10201346d ago (Edited 1346d ago )

The thing is they will have enough to sell to people picking up Halo then they would for a system. They can't order 500-1,000 Wii U systems per store and expect them to sell that same night. The consumer depend is high and that puts consumers, the employees and whomever else is attending.

I'm sure the Nintendo store has a good amount to sell through on because it's their store and their system. Until the next Sony and Microsoft console are about to be released and they do or don't have one, they we can say something is up with Gamestop.

It could be the lack of people that came to the Vita midnight as well.

The Vita should have received a midnight release, especially seeing as the 3DS got one.

The companies should have the amount of systems that were pre-ordered which, when you're selling to people who pre-ordered, is the exact amount you want. The midnight launch isn't for anyone to come in and buy, it's for people with a reserve receipt.
