Video Game Movie Adaptations: From Mass Effect to Fassbender

It's quite apparent that Hollywood doesn't want to take the risk of making an unpopular movie, which is why just about every "classic" movie is getting remade and remastered (just like the new Robocop *shudder* or, surprise surprise, a new Conan with Ahhnold), and just about every popular book is getting an adaptation.

Now Hollywood is moving on to another source for guaranteed success: popular video games. Just about every gamer has heard that Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect and even Deus Ex are all receiving film adaptations...yet just because the games are good doesn't mean the movies will reflect the games adequately. In fact, movie adaptations are notorious for completely altering and changing the original source material, alienating fans and their constituency in the process. (Assassin's Creed III, Culture, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Industry, Mass Effect, Tech)

I hope Hollywwod doesn't ruin the video game-movie franchise like they did with Doom!
