well of course its going to cost more to develop a game for a new console than a 7 year old one. Im sure the costs will go down as the generation goes on. Not to mention Epic is probably doing alot with their new engine compared to the UE3 that they only been modifying for years now.

I feel like the new consoles could be easier for some developers because of the extra power. Id imagine CD project Red would have an easier time porting the witcher 2 to the new xbox than the 360. Maye it would cost more to make it look better but id imagine they wouldnt have to squeeze everything they can out of it to achieve their goal.

Read the interview Digital Foundry did with CD Project RED, you can definitely see they had to compromise a lot just to get the game running on Xbox 360 ( http://www.eurogamer.net/ar... ). I FINALLY got around to playing The Witcher 2 for the Xbox and I can tell you it's definitely one of the best looking 360 titles out there.

About development costs, I do hope that this doesn't lead to game prices going up. $60 is already quite a lot for a video game and I can't imagine it going up any higher than it already is. We shall see once next-gen starts to come around.

Here in Europe it's even more expensive. If you buy a PS3/X360 game at a retail store, 70€... that's about $90. Way to expensive. All my games i buy online from places like Amazon or such.

If next gen they increase consoles games prices, then it's the end of console gaming for me.

Lol its only console games going more and more expensive. Along with that console companies crying about expenses.

Truth is its the console makers who are acting as middle men. They have alot of expenses them selves. All the adverts, employment expenses they incur needs to be recovered from somewhere. Guess what its the console gamers paying additional per game where it comes from. Paying to go online, paying premiums on hardware accessories etc. Its also one of the reasons why console games dont drop in price for a very long time.

Check out the development costs for a game like COD, 70-80% expenses go towards marketing and adverts alone. Most console games these days end up costing more purely because of the adverts, in the end its only going to be shouldered by the gamers.

Games on PC are still as cheap as ever before. Infact Steam discounts are better then ever. Sure some games now do launch at 60usd on PC too however its very easy to find alternative places where the games are cheap.

In the end its only console gamers getting ripped.

If that means games will cost a lot more than today then I'll just stick with my PC until the prices infect it too.

strigoi8144175d ago

F*€|< them for that. Games nowadays doesnt justify the 59.99 price tag with DLC that you have to pay for seperate..if this happens gaming will be a no more for casual gamers

CYBERHATER4175d ago

Not for me it won't. I'll be on my PC thank you very much.

It's A Crime That There's No Sleeping Dogs 2 Yet

Huzaifah from eXputer: "Sleeping Dogs from the early 2010s is one of the best open-world games out there but in dire need of a resurgence."

LG_Fox_Brazil8d ago

I agree, I consider the first one a cult classic already

isarai8d ago

You say "yet" as if it's even possible anymore. United Front Games is gone, along with anyone that made this game what it is

CrimsonWing697d ago

That’s what happens when games sell poorly. And I’ve seen people wonder why people cry when a game sells badly… this is your answer.

solideagle7d ago

Majority of the time it's true but if a company/publisher is big (in terms of money), they can take a hit or 2. e.g. I am not worried about Rebirth sales as Square will make Remake 3 anyway but if FF 17 doesn't sell then Square might need to look for alternative. <-- my humble opinion

Abnor_Mal7d ago

Doesn’t Microsoft own the IP now since they acquired Activision?

DaReapa7d ago

No. Square Enix owns the IP.

Abnor_Mal7d ago

Oh okay, Activision owned True Crime, but when that didn’t sell as intended it was canceled. Six months later Square Enix bought the rights and changed the title to Sleeping Dogs.*

Sleeping Dogs was a sleeper hit back then. It was fantastic. It actually still is. Would love a sequel to this, or at least a revive of True Crime series.

Do they explain in the video why there are two numbers 3? Starfield and Tears of the Kingdom?

It's always refreshing to see games embracing the streaming community.

Bloodborne is a game I still restart and play every few months. I would welcome just a re release in 60fps with a visual upgrade. It's a perfect game. If I was king for a day I would include the randomizer mods because then it would be a kind of rogue like and I could play it forever.

gleepot353d ago

Sure, ill take a sequel to all of these.
