Nearly 2 years have passed since Square Enix first demonstrated in game footage of its upcoming action rpg to the public.
While details surrounding the long awaited Final Fantasy Versus XIII continue to be secluded for another year, word on the street suggests that the media blackout regarding Versus XIII may end as early as the new year.
According to the Final Fantasy grapevine, Square Enix is preparing a special conference to be held January 15th-17th. It’s rumored that Noctis and company will have their day in the sun once more after a two year absence as new in-game Final Fantasy Versus XIII footage is expected to be revealed. A new playable character will also reportedly be shown as well.

As for FF Versus 13 I don't even care anymore. With Ni no kuni, The last of us & Beyond we've got enough (probably better) games to look forward to
Ah, good to see you still *hope* as I've given up all hope for FFVS13 as it seems like SE doesn't know what they are doing when it comes to Final Fantasy.
And when that future data comes, they will announce that "announcement/details to come in future"
Final Fantasy Versus or Final Fantasy 15 either will do

They've had plenty of time to seperate the mytho they were both going to share.
While I doubt it would be renamed to a main entry FF, I do think changing the 'Versus' would be in its benefit. Honestly, the 'Versus' makes it sound like a fighting game set in the FF XIII universe.
You might be right about the name, but 'XIII' will remain due to the mythology behind the crystal and Etro. "Versus" will probably remain because of its definition as the polar opposite of FFXIII.

FF13s gameplay was terrible, especialy the battle system the main part of the series. I could of considered that a spin off, I mean the way Versus is going it's more of a FF game then FF13. I mean it has the overworld map for starters. If we arn't going back to turn based I'd take the Kingdom Hearts battle style over the crappy shift system in FF13
If you've given up on Versus XIII after 5 years, won't you also have given up on KH3 after 5 years too? I think it's the fault of Squeenix for announcing it too early and your fault for getting too hyped and not controlling your patience.
I mean look at how hyped you're getting for a game that hasn't even been announced yet or has been confirmed to be going into development. Sure, Nomura might have expressed enthusiasm for wanting to make KH3, but it's in the hands of Squeenix.
2. if it ever comes out it will be terrible, just look at final fantasy 13 for a good example of just how bad squenix games are these days

They'll proceed to show a CGI trailer and tell us it will be released in 2014. Then in late 2013, they will tell us there will be a conference in early 2014 and tell us Versus was delayed till 2015.
Most of the rumours about the game's appearance at this and that conference are unfounded, which has repeatedly lead to disappoointed and people getting angry at SE.
But in most of the cases it's not like SE have said "we're showing the game at this and that conference" and then failed to deliver. People should be angry at whoever started the rumour. It's these that have drawn attention to the game's absence. We should really just relax until it gets released or otherwise.
I admit SE have been working on the game for an inordinately long time, but it's their game. We're not entitled to it. When it finally does come out, you don't have to buy it if you don't want to, but don't act like SE owe it to you or something.
Still regardless it is about time that Squarenix get there head out of their asses and prove to the world that they can still be a revelant player in the gaming industry like they use to.
This rumored showcase needs to have something that will 'mind blow' all the doubters about Final Fantasy vs.13 that it does exist & will be a crowning achievement that we all hope it can be.
