Skewed and Reviewed has posted a news release that Scott Derickson, the director of "Sinister" will direct the film version of Deus Ex.
as a director Scott Derrickson is pretty good. He made The Day the Earth Stood Still and The Exorcism of Emily Rose which were pretty good films. The movie has potential.
The Day the Earth Stood Still was pretty bad and The Exorcism of Emily Rose is average at best.
I think he will be a great choice. This will be very interesting as Deus, Splinter Cell, and A.C. all have big budget films coming. I know many make him out to be a bad guy, but I have talked to Uwe Boll many times and he told me how you get the names, but you cannot go into much of the game in great detail. They do not want a rehash and you have to stay clear of sequel grounds. He said he does the games as they sell well in Europe and he can use the money he makes on them to do indy drama, some have been very good such as "Stoic" and "Rampage" which were very dark and disturbing dramas. Anyway, if you look at "Doom", "Wing Commander", "Super Mario", etc, they also did not have much in common with their games. I wonder how much freedom they will get this time out.
