I'm surprised PlayStation All Stars is not up there for best PS3 game. It may be because it's not out yet but, there are 2 Wii U games up there and they come out 2 days before PSASBR.

Halo 4 didn't get nominated for GOTY? Wow, I thought at least one Xbox exclusive would win this gen. Maybe next year though. I'm voting for Assassins Creed 3.

If Mario wins best handheld game I will not be happy. Gravity Rush deserves it for being original and amazing. LittleBigPlanet is also really good though. Also where's PS All Stars?
I saw this a while ago. And I was surprised Halo 4, Black Ops 2, and Borderlands 2 didn't make the list. Then I looked at the comments and got some of the best laughs ever......fans & fanboys you kill me.
It's Spike's GOTY awards. They choose the nominees, gamers vote on them. If it was the gamers GOTY then we could include anything we wanted.
That being said I'm hoping for The Walking Dead, Journey, or Dishonored. AC3 and ME3 are good, but I hoping something bold and new wins it.
I'm just glad to see Journey getting so much attention. It was my pick for GOTY when it came out, and is still my pick for GOTY today. Truly an amazing game. 343 is my clear pick for studio of the year... they have done a fantastic job with Halo 4. Congrats to all the nominees.
I think it's interesting how there is a "Vita has no games/is dead" articles every 5 seconds on this site, but 3 or the 4 nominees in the handheld section are Vita exclusives. Put that in your pipe and smoke it naysayers.

Journey - Mostly because as a PSN game it's stunning, it's like art packaged into a video game
Dishourned - Mostly because it's a new fresh IP and it fuels hope for a sequel.
For the studio I would have to go with GearBox, they made Borderlands 2 and since that didn't get nominated for GOTY it would be nice for them to win.
Female Voice Actress....has to be Cortana, I'm sick of people going on about tme mo cap actress, Jen Taylor is the one who brings her to life.
Dameon Clarke HAS to get best Actor, he was hillarious in Borderlands 2 as Jack....sorry Max
Jeez theres a lot of Walking Dead stuff...I hope people don't just pick it based on the fact its downloadable game and it would be weird seeing a downloadable game win so many awards. TT games will just continue making point and click games then, I want to see them do other things.
Claptrap has to win best character, that COD character better not win, I have no idea why he is there most COD characters are the same personality wise. Maybe one year, when Uncharted 4 comes out Nolan will FINALLY win an award.

We're at the point now where the line between downloadable games and retail games is becoming irrelevant. In the infancy of XBL and PSN, they were neat little snippets of content and nothing but simplistic fun. Today we have downloadable games that surpass retail releases in terms of graphics, gameplay, depth, but ultimately in the quality of the experience. Lets face it, the experience has always been at the core of why we love video games. Why segment that?
Hopefully journey wins. The other nominees are good but journey was just breath taking and a great experience in the first play through. That game is a gem and shows that gaming can be art.
i'm voting Journey as best graphics, best PS3 game and overall GOTY. The Last of Us is my most anticipated game next year, i was considering GTA5 but Naughty dog is Naughty dog

I've always agreed with you and had your back through the years but I feel we shouldnt scrutinize details like that when considering GOTY.. When Gears 3 wasn't nominated last year, I called Bullsh**! Sold more than all exclusives by a mile, played to death, had more options than any game period, & was absolutely fantastic!

Looking forward to seeing both some announced titles as well as hopefully some new ones. Especially PS3 as first/second party have a lot of unannounced projects but also something from MS... other than Judgement, XBLA, or Kinect as those are really main exclusives we "know" about for '13. If they aren't waiting to announce next gen anyways, I'd like to see something at least as no Late year games have been announced yet (Sony has several TBA release dates at least).

Best Voice 2009, Jack Black who was there even though Nolan North should of won for his work in Uncharted 2. Stephen Merchant big celeb won for Wheatly over Nolan again in 2011....I mean come on.

I know, Borderlands 2 is my personal GOTY. Journey is good but it's WAY too short ME 3 is a decent game that fails in the storytelling department Dishonored is like journey, good but WAY too short AC 3 is a buggy mess TWD got stellar storytelling but it's more like an interactive movie. BL2, Halo 4, Journey, TWD and GW2 would be my nominees.
I agree with you on GW2 i cant comment on 360 games since i dont have one. AC3 is a buggy mess and story is the worst and not talking about the ending. ME3 also fails in the storytelling.

Did anyone see the category for "Best Handheld/Mobile Game"? Out of 4 games, 3 were PS Vita games and 1 was only a 3DS game. I hope Gravity Rush wins it because it has been my favorite handheld game this year. New Super Mario Bros. 2 is a great game, but it's more of the same. I want something new to win it this time.
Isn't that rather ironic? All this talk about the Vita not having games, or there being no games worth playing on the system, but most of the nominees are from the system. Something doesn't seem to match up there...
Personally, as much as I love both LBP and Sound Shapes, I want to see Gravity Rush come away with the win.
Where's Max Payne for best graphics or Most Wanted. I really hope Arkane gets studio of the year. They released a patch less nearly bug free game and considering Dishonored is a new IP it did exceptionally well without a need for a prequel hype.

it seems that they addressed some of the complaints from past years like having 5 freakin' music categories. The nominees are pretty varied as well, not too bad.
my only concern is that we don't get pointless celebrity cameos, and those stupid "in between" game show activities like last year. There should be some integrity with these awards.
Also, this is just me, but i think it would've been nice to have a category like, "Best Boss Battle," or "Most creative level," because it'd be great to point out the good things that the developers worked so hard in designing, just a thought :P
Rehashed garbage? Sounds more like BLOPs, lol. When any FPS ACTUALLY gets new gameplay feature... then they should be nominated right away, right? AC3 is a true sequel, far from rehashed. Play the game before you judge. It deserves its spot as GOTY far more then BLOPs, and I'd say Halo 4 too, though Halo 4 should most definitely be there...
There was Starhawk and Twisted Metal, but they came out way too early in the year to have any sort of chance on this. It's sad that games that are released at the end of the year always get more nominations regardless of the quality.
The quality in Journey surpasses most triple A games that are 7hrs+ even though it's 2-3 hrs long. QUALITY>QUANTITY any day. Won't be surprise if it wins most of the awards it was nominated on.
Too bad that this is nothing but a popularity contest, but i do hope Dishonored slips away with some awards. I certainly don't think Assassin's Creed 3 should get it.
It doesn't matter that Halo 4 wasn't nominated because a multiplayer centric game will never win GoTY. Game of the Year and Single Player Game of the Year are synonyms, if anything we need a Multiplayer Game of the Year award if that was the case I'm sure Halo 4 would be nominated. As for the GoTY nominee's, the only games I can see winning it are AC3 and Dishonored.
