I hope this continues for all DLC for Battle Royale where the DLC is free for the first 2 weeks after they are available to download like this one.
I think a DLC pack should be the character, their alternative costumes, a level based on their universe, and 1-2 items from their games.
This would please me.

Sony doesnt have to pay a dime to anyone but themselves to market their own franchises in this game. Its like with the whole crash and spyro fiasco, if Sony still had full ownership of those franchises, i believe they would have been in this game a while ago.
I know that Sony isnt willing to touch Blasto mainly due to its voice actor passing away some time ago, but at the end of the day it wouldnt hurt to put him in the game which can serve as both a tribute and a public service. Who can play Blasto? Ive thought of this and after playing through many of Sony's franchises ive come to the conclusion that Captain qwark's(from ratchet and clank) voice actor could fill that role nicely.
As for tomba, Sony could essentially rebuy all of its rights if it wanted to or simply pay a small amount of royalties to its new owners. I say that because this isnt Activision they would have to deal with, but someone more open to the idea.
And the reason for characters like Iota and lil and laarg being on my list is simple, these are new mascots and Vitas own stand outs next to Kat. If Sony is to use this game as a marketing tool, then it would make a lot more sense to me for them to promote their own ips instead, who knows what could come of this.
Actually hang on a tick, how is Kat not finished....early next year? I don't understand we knew she was coming, hell there was all that leaked screenshots of her. How does it take so long to create one character, I mean there saying because it's went Gold there moving onto making new characters but if we saw her BEFORE the game went gold then why didn't they just put her in the game.
I think they're holding these guys off, making them free to gain some respect after the disapointing third party character line up and then after 2 weeks when the free deal expires they'll earn some cash....very smart Superbot, very smart.

It's common logic for these to have been in from the start. If it was someone like Lara Croft and Issac Clarke for example then fair enough since they're third party characters.
Being "entitled" is expecting (FOR EXAMPLE) DLC for Halo 4s Wargames to be free since they were for Limited Edition owners or wanting much more from the ME3 ending even though they've already fixed it and your just beating a dead horse by wanting more from it.
Furthermore, we don't deserve any DLC for free and thats why Cgoodno is calling you entitled. They SHOULD be free, but what should be isn't always what happens. You're also mistaken about First Party characters being "easy". Superbot isn't allowed to just pick any Sony character they want and make a game with them, they need approval (much like Capcom said with cross over fighters). They could have maybe wanted SOMEONE from Resistance (I think we all agree the lack of is... odd), but they could have been told no or they couldn't see the fighter working or perhaps they wanted someone they couldn't have. Whatever the truth is, FP titles are just easier to get than third, but in no way are a simple matter of just picking people they want.
With this being said, this is an interesting move for Sony. I assume the characters are being delayed to balance out the current roster, so that implies they're going to try. I do hope we see other characters for free, though I am more interested in how much these characters are going to cost. Finally I am also sad to see these characters (or perhaps any character) will be receiving trophies, since I doubt they will be free with trophy support.
The guys in Team ICO said they didn't want any of there characters in the game but they're first party.
Likewise with Capcom, the Monster Hunter team didn't want anything in MH to be in Marvel vs Capcom 3 but they're all Capcom.
Also Kat and Emmett are pretty new charactesr so the call to greenlight them for the game probably came a lot later than the original cast. Remember the game has been in development for 3 years and even once a character has been created they still need a lot of testing and balancing which is probably why they are coming as free dlc early next year.
You might not like the characters,others actually do ! and there are more characters to come,saying things like "Yeah it better be free" and "making them free to gain some respect after the disapointing third party character line up and then after 2 weeks when the free deal expires they'll earn some cash" is really SHAMEFUL and DISRESPECTFUL ..!

PS: Off topic, but the Mass Effect 3 ending still sucks. It's not feeling entitled to expect closure from arguably one of the greatest trilogies of all time.

Yeah, this type of support is fantastic.
I was tempted by it once, but after playing the beta, its now nowhere near my ‘to buy’ list.
In fact, it’s made it to my ‘avoid’ list, as it was just a confusing mess to me.
Edit: DLC is free only for 2 weeks.lol hilarious..
The Beta on the PS3 kind of made me not want the game, but the Vita version is better because the screen is smaller and my character is easier to locate. I can't wait for Next week.
