Nine months after the Vita launched in North America, it still doesn’t have its killer app. We have enjoyable titles like Tales From Space and Gravity Rush, but nothing has made the portable a must-have for mainstream audiences. Vita versions of the Uncharted, Resistance, and Assassin’s Creed franchises proved to be lackluster, but Sony has one last big name to draw on in 2012. If Call of Duty can’t move units for mainstream gamers, what can? Unfortunately, Declassified is an absolute mess. 3/10
"casual FPS players and Call of Duty fans alike will recognize the train wreck Nihilistic Software has developed. "
I'm not one those, that might be the reason why I like the game.
I have been looking at all the Vita games I have and played with an open mind. I can be a little bias, because I want the Vita to succeed and want more games to play on it.
@Akuma, The game is not a 9, that is overrating it. More like an 7.5; it deserves a better score than Resistance, hands down.
But I like McDonalds. :(
Does that change the fact that you liked the McDonald's patty though? Does trying something else and liking it better than patty all of sudden make it the worse thing in the world?
It doesn't matter if it pales in comparison so along as the game itself is good or enjoyable not that that's the case with Declassified in my opinion though.
I'd hate to admit it, but... KZ3 for instance is a... decent... game on it's own right... even though it is complete and utter trash compared to KZ2.
I agree with you. Thats why I'm still interested in buying Declassified. The differences between Declassified and its console counterpart don't bother me.
Yet"this game is amazing"
This you say Mr authentic PS fanboy!
Giga LOL!!Poor child...
Another Vita crap game, like a Resistance: Burning Skies....
The content you get from Declassified is not worth the 50 dollar price if it didnt come with Roads to Victory IMO. But the price doesn't or at least shouldn't reflect a review or the score given.
There are 3 modes plus the MP with 3 difficulties and 3 requirements for each mission to earn 3 stars. While the campaign has 10 levels and the others have about 4-6, the challenge you get adds replay value. If you play on the easiest difficulty and do the bare minimum then no, its not worth it. Because of how quickly you will run through the Singleplayer content.
The campaign has 3 different difficulty levels that can get frustrating because of the AI, but what game doesn't have that. There is the time trial mode, that requires you to run through the course with shortest amount of time killing all enemies and with no civilian deaths. There is the Hostiles mode, that requirea you to run through a set of waves with the enemies getting smarter and using better weapons. Then there is the MP.
Don't really understand this undeserved hate for the Vita to be honest.
Face it, no matter what supporters claimed many months ago Black Ops is not going to be the shot in the arm the Vita needs this Xmas.
Let's leave out Assassin's Creed, BlazBlue, Disgaea, Dynasty Warriors, Gravity Rush, Hot Shots Golf, LittleBigPlanet, MLB The Show, Mortal Kombat, Need for Speed, Ragnarok Odyssey, Rayman Origins, Street Fighter x Tekken, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Uncharted, Unit 13, and Wipeout. None of those games are as good as, or better than, their console counterparts.
Are you SO ignorant that you expect EVERY game to come out for the system to be "console quality?" Hell, all games ON CONSOLES aren't even "console quality," but you want EVERY game on a handheld to be held to that standard.
The only way you'd get a Vita is if it were a 20 million unit-selling tablet, and since it will never be a tablet(sales can't be guessed at this early on), you'll never get one. Damn all the games I mentioned. Damn all the features that just keep getting better.
So, again, I ask: why do you keep commenting?
Do you honestly believe that? Do you honestly believe that had Sony not advertize the system as console quality that no reviewers would even think about comparing it to consoles?
The comparisons would have happened regardless. The only difference is that people can justify the comparisons. It's not that Sony should stop advertizing it as console quality to get people to stop comparing the two, it's that Sony should stop so that people can no longer justify the comparison because it will happen regardless.
That being said the game never looked promising since the first trailer was revealed. It did improve since then(visually at least), but things such as 4x4(or was it 2x2? I forget...) mulitplayer was only foreshadowing on what was to come in the future.
No we do not expect all games to be console qulity but when a game cost $50 which is $10 less than than it console sibling then yes I expect AAA graphics with loads of content.
If they had sold this game at $30 then it would be justified but not $50.
It's not just this game, there's been others. Some on the PS3, 360, Wii, 3DS and Vita.
"On launch day, I was rarely able to connect to a match. When I actually got into one, it was filled with enough glitches to make it unplayable."
"I was frequently kicked out of lobbies to a background screen that I couldn’t exit out of"
"maps are claustrophobic and uninspired battlegrounds."
I dont know why the attempting to justify a 45 minute game (esp for that price). its probably due to the fact that they wasted their money on the game. you can get the same experience on a cell phone for 1 dollar.
Funny, ESPECIALLY after taking in how many people were upset when unfavorable Halo 4 reviews came out here recently. Plenty were complaining that the reviews were wrong, the critics were stupid and that anybody who agreed with the reviews were trolls or fanboys. Guess that was different, huh?
If someone doesn't agree with a review let them share their opinions.
The verdict is obvious: Not worth the current asking price (unless you're an FPS portable enthusiast that needs tactile control and serviceable MP.. and have decent salary).
:) :) :)

They are the Republicans of the gaming world.
I hate COD & only purchased this by default bc its the only viable fps on vita for now.
I actually like this game, especially compared to R:BS, and alot of other people ive played with online also share my sentiment. I give it a 7.5 or 8/10.
Besides, they totally lost their credibility when they said Uncharted on vita was lackluster. That game was awesome, and im also enjoying AC:L.
All these glitches they speak of i have yet to experience during my time playing.
Sometimes i wonder where they come up with this crap.
N4G on COD (vita): OMG AWESOME GAME UNDERRATED BIASED REVIEWS
Sony fanboys as always
N4g what do u expect
'Vita versions of the UNCHARTED, Resistance, and Assassin’s Creed franchises proved to be lackluster...'
That right there single-handedly makes this persons opinions a mute point. Uncharted Golden Abyss....lackluster?! Sure buddy.
Pretty much proves he didn't play black ops 2 or is PR for activision. He really needs to see all connection problems/bugs/glitches/hackers affecting the game and using same tired old graphics before he says that. Just strange how declassified gets low scores for these problems but not black ops 2.
Sony kept advertising it as a "PS3 on the go".
Compared to the PS3 titles, those are objectively lack luster.
BUT COMPARED TO THE REST OF THE MOBILE INDUSTRY, they're pretty darn good.
Again, it's all relative.
Games need good one depending on the "current standard" and gameplay.
More than likely Nihilistic got caught between a rock and a hard place when they were given this project to finish.
Ignore the fact that Nhlistic made this game, would COD : Declassified get the same review scores if it was made by say Activision's studios like Treyarch.
One has to wonder if the reputation of Nhlistic has clouded the judgement of the reviewers. Not saying that the game is great but compared to other mobile COD games & Burning Skies it is better than many people thought it would be.
Been watching a lot of user reviews on Youtube & the vast majority of them thought the game turned out better than expected since seeing that first trailer.
I just hope Sony doesn't give up on the VITA yet.
I truly loved the PSP and I hope the VITA gets the same treatment.
