Help Us Star Citizen, You're Our Only Hope | Press Play

Space-simulators are the gaming industry’s greatest oversight. Not only did they offer unparalleled explorative means, but the vast worlds, intensive battles and compelling narratives remain as some of contemporary gaming’s greatest unrealized strengths. In an effort to truly rejuvenate this neglected genre, Chris Roberts, creator of the legendary Wing Commander series, has unveiled his new game: Star Citizen. If you consider yourself a space-sim fan in any way, this is something you won’t want to miss. (PC, Star Citizen)

Nice article! The last good space sim I played was Freespace 2, and I've always wanted SOMEone to start making them again.

This makes me so happy I bought a PC, it almost seemed like perfect timing when I got my PC because kickstarter came about and well look at what the indie scene is able to do now!

We have great indie titles like Chivalry Medieval Warfare, Primal Carnage and now Star Citizen all coming from kickstarter which are all unique and fresh ideas.

This is also accompanied by the advent of Planetside 2, its a great time to be on PC.

Near the end of the interview with Roberts he talks about the state of PC gaming too. I'm glad people like him are really trying to bring back hardcore PC titles, since other devs seem to be OK with dishing out lazy console table scraps.

Besides Chris Roberts coming back in a big way, I think this is exactly what businesses need to see from the space-sim genre. Hopefully we'll start getting an influx of these kinds of titles rather than the gunmetal grey, post-apocalyptic shooters that have saturated the market.
