A big list of so-called “shortcomings” has been revealed for Halo 4, featuring fan complaints about the missing or downgraded features of the sequel when compared to the older games in the series.
The only thing I can really complain about is probably the length, I just wished it was a bit longer. I'd rather have that then Sparten Ops and then let them do Sparten Ops as DLC after they finish the game, something I feel Valve should of done with Portal 2s DLC. It's a lot easier adding in a seperate mode for a game then it is to make single player DLC for the campaign. The other nit picking complaint would be the music, it's not very Halo like. It's epic but not Halo epic. I mean compare this which is basicaly a differnt variation of the Halo theme song http://www.youtube.com/watc... with this http://www.youtube.com/watc... I think I only heard a little bit of the main Halo theme near the end of the campaign. I don't see why he didn't expand of some of the Halo theme.
http://www.youtube.com/watc... Ahem. This song pays homage to One Final Effort, the song you put up from Halo 3 at about 6:00. Not only that, but it has a very clear theme, and is masterfully composed. Halo 4's OST is fantastic. Neil Davidge is not Martin O'Donnell or vice versa. I can appreciate what both bring to the Halo table.
Loved the campaign in almost every way. No major complaints in that regard as it exeeded my expectations. But I will say that Bungie's magical touch in multiplayer has not been topped. With that said I do love how addicting multi is, but Bungie threw the kitchen sink at Reach and IMO 343i still has didn't outdo the team at Bungie. Evil
They could have given the game away for free and people would still complain. Drives me nuts. They didn't have to make he game and nobody is forced to buy it. Bunch of whiners.
I didn't like Reach Evil, worst MP for me... I however really H4's MP.
agree with Jinkies... didn't really like the 4 ost, it's not bad, just average and forgetful. The Music doesn't really pump you up while playing. how can you not have the main halo theme in the game.
I for one was sick of the main theme even if I am a massive fan of O'Donnell.
It's beyond perfection.
Try again. Just kidding. ;)
"•Scrolling through players in the scoreboard is more difficult. Instead of holding back and using the right analog stick to move through them, you must use the d-pad." Um, so it's "more difficult" to use 1 button instead of 2? The d-pad is literally a couple of centimetres to the left of the analogue stick. Some people.
it is an annoyance. since you have to hold back while scrolling with the dpad. the annoyance comes from how close together the dpad and back button is. feels very unnatural. dont understand why they chose this.
this does seem to be nitpicking. halo 4 is an incredible experience and excellent value for money.
I absolutely LOVED Halo 4! Bravo 343! Can't wait for the sequels! :) Campaign is AMAZING!(on my 2nd playthrough solo on Legendary) Technically it is the best looking game of this entire generation together with Uncharted 2-3!(personal opinion) Multiplayer is sooooooo good!!!! I can't stop playing... Also Spartan Ops is a second campaign so even thought the game is like 8 hours long in Heroic, they basically gave us a second campaign...(i haven't started Spartan Ops, since my schedule is full with the campaign and multiplayer, but i am hearing really good things from friends from live)
@tompoulo, Agreed! I'm on my 2nd play-through solo on Legendary as well. I've yet to experience Spartan Ops. I'll play this for a while. Haven't played co-op yet, I will this weekend. I did like campaign scoring, the main Halo musical theme I'd like to hear, Firefight, And most of all they'd better never have a COD like "second" ever again (like at the begening of the game or the end of the game!). It was only a second, but I absolutely HATE that! None the less FANTASTIC GAME! GOTY for me!
I like the campaign, but it was significantly short. The graphics are good but, in my personal opinion, not as good as everyone is making it out to be. It is, however, the best halo as ever looked. So, my only complaint (since I don't have live) would be short campaign and lack of variety in which most missions can be tackled. The story also left more to be desired in the latter parts of the game.
Having to go into quite some detail to find these 'faults'. But personally, it's the first Halo I've really enjoyed since 2, so complaints aside, I'm more than happy I picked it up. With such a huge following your always going to find someone ready to complain about something.
Most of those are nit picks that only the most enthusiastic Veterans will notice, but im sure its something that can be fixed. thankfully most of those were MP only as well.
Holey mother of nitpicks batman!
Shut up and get back on my lap, Robin! *drinks Whiskey* DROP THEM TIGHTS, BOY!
He was just looking for stuff to hate on wasent he
No some of the nitpicks are good points. Its the huge things but the small things that matter. If 343i takes notice and updates it/or Halo 5, it can really improve the game.
The only things that (in my opinion atleast) can truly be considered as faults in the fame is the removal of forge features. Would be nice if precision movement was added back in with a patch :)
It's not the Huge things but the small things*
What's sad is that this guy doesn't even mention the big problems with the game. He's too busy nitpicking over the HUD (which looks great in this game actually). If he wanted to complain about something it should be how bad the story is in the later part of the game, how inconsistent the art direction is for the Didact/Prometheans to the rest of the Forerunner crap, the addition of join in progress and how teams are rarely even, the addition of CoD like gameplay elements, how underwhelming and overly subtle the music is, the lack of many staple MP modes (which he actually does acknowledge), lack of Firefight (which was replaced with the "meh" Spartan Ops)/Campaign scoring, etc.
As a fan of Halo, I just wanted to see levels on Par with the Ark and the Covenant from Halo 3 as far as scale goes. Dual scarab battle needs to be topped.
Dual scarab battle can never be topped
Man.. I've played the dual scarab part about 7 Sangheilion times! It's one of the best (if not the best) moments in gaming history. I really hope 343 try to do something similar in Halo 5. Imagine how epic it would be with next gen graphics. *drools*
Did these same fans compile a list of all the things Halo 4 does way better than previous games? Just curious... You can't make everyone happy when it comes to video games and well...life.
I agree with the forge and gamemode problem as I myself have encountered them but the others are nitpicking.
The major problem with this game is the complete lack of support for custom games when compare to the likes of Halo 3.
I like how one of the complaints is just Theater. It's so bad in Halo 4 I feel like 343i is trying to phase it out of the franchise. My biggest complaint is that the Flood can't use weapons in Flood mode and there is no Infection mode to use as an alternative, it ruins a lot of custom game setups.
I've built 2 awesome maps in Forge (Impact and Ravine) and I can see that the number of maps I will be making will probably be under 4...There is only so much you can do. I'd like to see another forge world come back. And I would still like to see Firefight. And maybe one or two more old-school maps....I realize that's a lot of dreaming, but hey, who knows. Oh yeah, and the SMG has been begging for a return for years now.
no matter how good something is there will always be haters picking it apart to find something to biotch about.
Oxford Dictionary: Nitpick - http://www.examiner.com/art...
I have been playing since it was released and find the game great overall with no "nitpicky" issues with it at all. Some gamers just cannot move on....
my only nitpick is i would have liked more variety in the Promethean enemies, other than that halo 4 is hands down the best damn game Ive played this year!
No complaints so far up to chapter 5(or after you leave the planet), it's nice to see the 360 seriously flex some of it's graphical muscle, definitely one of the better looking games i have seen this yr.
