"Ever since the announcement at E3 2012, I’ve been super excited about Xbox SmartGlass (XSG). The whole idea behind the application excited me. It’s not just an app to show you your stats and your friends - it is way more than that. Let me take you on a tour and show you what XSG is all about."
The ability to look at achievements and edit your Avatar are just fluff features imho. Sure they are there, but it's hardly important stuff.
All in all, it's a nice little app to fool around with. As more games come out that support it, I am sure we may see some other cool features get revealed, but right now it's just a simple app with a few good uses.
Anyway, the grab of Smart Glass isn't the way it integrates with games but rather the way it let's you control your Xbox with a touch screen device easily. The point is to eliminate Media Remotes, Wireless Keyboards and other such hardware accessories that add functionality your Xbox, eg, comfortably browsing the net through Internet Explorer or watching films.
It costs both the manufacturer and the consumer a lot of money for hardware peripherals that add such functionality and that more often than not can only be used in one context and therefore have a finite lifespan.
The integration of XSG into games is a bonus to make it more attractive in more ways, but it's not the core function. It already performs it's core function which is to conveniently let you or anyone else in your household take control of your Xbox and make practical use of it without having to buy an exclusive piece of hardware. In that regard, it's quite a brilliant app that achieves a complex goal in a way far simpler than any other attempt before it.

It just came out, I'm sure they'll integrate it with more stuff soon.
