With expectation at a fever pitch it will definitely launch at number one in America and Europe. But will it be one of the biggest games of 2008? No, and the reasons are obvious.
"Basically Super Smash Bros, Brawl (SSBB) and SMG are gamer’s games. They are mainly bought by people for whom gaming is a hobby. And whilst many Wii owners are gamers, most of them aren’t. Most Wii owners are casual game players, and whilst some of these may well be interested in SSBB, most won’t be."
Wrong Japan loves these things and most Wii owners are now " moms and dads" but how many people said : the only reason im getting a Wii is for smash brawl.....
this guy is so wrong!! the only reason this game could sell slower then expected is because Nintendo cant get their Wii's ready.
his logic fails
I think he makes a valid point. Smash Bros will sell very well, but look at highly awaited titles like No More Heroes, which flopped in Japan and did so so in the US. The Wii really is a casual system. Games aren't selling nearly as fast as the system is, and that's where the trouble lies.
and i have a wii been playing games since i was a kid now i am 33 years old sorry but a lot of my friends that are hardcore gamers have a wii too. ps realy looking forward to SSBB
OK so his logic is that SSBB is a gamer's game but the Wii is for casual gamers...he doesn't think a gamer will buy a Wii for this game? He acts like no more Wiis will be in production ever again and the only people that have one are strictly casual gamers. One of the appealing things about the game is that it's easy to pick up and play in the first place. It's not Street Fighter so you don't need to make half and full circles or charge moves to pull of a special move, yet there's so many ways to play it. I mean...I can go on forever about how wrong this guy is, but basically the game will be pretty big all around in 2008. It's not targeted for a specific group...other than Little Big Planet and SSBB, the most anticipated games in 2008 are mostly hardcore Sorry Bruce...gotta disagree with you
Thing IS a system seller. Did he not see the pics of the 500+ people on every line in Japan buying Wiis with Gamecube controllers? I repeat, with "GAMECUBE CONTROLLERS". SSBB is not only selling Wii systems, it is also selling GAMECUBE CONTROLLERS! Article = Epic Fail Disagree as much as you want.
Really really really BIG HUGE and hopefully equally fantastic.
Come on... this is a system seller! It will sell for the rest of Wii´s life circle! Like Melee did on Gamecube... this is the first Doble layer Dvd game for the... Pushing the Wii like no other game until now... Casual or not... its a biiiiiig base of gamers or casual buying this!
A BIG PILE OF JURRASIC CRAP !!
Now you all see why I laugh so much! MWAH-HA-HA-HA!!!
there are senseless people in the world. and they all show their heads whenever the wii and wii games get too massive to show how much of fanboys they are of sony and xbox360... his arguments make no sense.. mario is an icon and smash is full of icons, nintendo is on a resurgence. last i check mario galaxy is at almost 4 million and thats in the u.s alone. smaSH bros is a much bigger game, with alot more options, and contents , some which would appeal to everyone exactly like nintendo planned.. its being marketed right....most people in the world i'll guess 80 per cent does not have an hd tv. and grand theft auto always sold alot back in the days. its not hd thats helping grand theft auto sell now. idiot.. and if he did his research mario galaxy has been in the top 10 for 3 months straight while halo is not even in it or lair , or any other garbage sony games...... only a fanboy or clown doesnt see that smash has the potential to sell the most out of any games coming in 08 besides wii fit if nintendo market it right.
Smash Bros Brawl will go hand in hand with MGS4 as the biggest sellers of 08.. Mark my words..
yes it will sell, very much!....im guessing everyone who played melee already/will pick(ed) up a wii for it, but the Wii's casual audience(me, elders and your parents) are less likely to pick up the game, Im new to the nintendo wii and i will be buying one for this game and Okami<3, SSBB will have to rely on the hardcore audience and fanbase for sales...i guess
c'mon guys cut it some slack, u'll luv it once u get to try it :)
it will be big but since there r many other big titles on the way and currently out there, it wont be all that for too long
SSBB Melee was big cuz nothing else competed against it
But like gamecube and melee it will be its last big seller.
I highly doubt it. Nintendo has a new philosophy and apparently it's working out. And when i say Nintendo I mean Nintendo, not any third party developers. The author is semi right when Wii Fit is placed in the equation. I'm pretty sure Mario Kart is going to be up there along with animal crossing
Brawl will sell big but fall off fast? So the reason its still near impossible to find a copy of Melee and when I do it still cost $40 is...? And why does everybody assume that the overwhelming majority of Wii owners are nothing but Bowling-playing, nursing home residents?
Cmon guys its the wiis best game it'll ever have.
Why allowed to post trash as news?
Brawl sold more copies in Japan in its first week than Mario Galaxy has sold thus far. This game is going to be *huge*.
this might actually make me buy a wii i like the concept of the fighting in ssbb and i want to play as solid snake- thats as close as the nintendogs are going to get to solid snake
With 3 controllers, game is way to overrated.
the question is "how big SHOULD smash have been" as it was delayed...
Brawl sold 1.5 million in 2 weeks in Japan alone. Everyone and their mothers fathers and grandmothers have the game on pre-order in the U.S., and somehow this isn't going to be one of the biggest games of the year? In many ways it is THE biggest game of the year, since it will not only likely sell the most, but it will reach the most diverse audience. The story also tries to act as if Super Mario Galaxy wasn't one of the biggest games last year? It came out a month and a half after Halo 3 and it's on pace to catch up in sales by summer at the latest. Once again, another absurd Wii hate article disguised as truth. Oh well, it was good for a laugh at least.
People can hate this game as much as they want.. (non Wii owners).. But the truth is that it will likely sell AND score better then most games this generation...
