GamesBeat: After a week playing with Nintendo's upcoming new console (plus a sample platter of first- and third-party titles), we've noticed a few interesting things the Wii U does — and doesn’t do.
Sounds good and bad and good and bad.
That's really unfortunate about the touch-screen sensitivity. That's no small issue.
^^ Agree. I noticed the sensitivity/lack of response the first time I used a demo unit. Scrolling through the games in the coverflow-type UI, I found that sometimes my fingertip wouldn't "grab" the item I selected. That said, I doubt it will be a severe problem. I bet that it's something you just have to get a feel for.
Its actually pretty good because when it count *playing games* you will have exact precision with a stylus instead of trying to play Ninja Gaiden with angry birds precision.
personally I think the gamepad sensitivity shouldn't be that bad. the 3ds screen works fine with fingers its people are used to the light touch of capacitive screens on resistive you need to be a bit more heavy fingered light touches on resistive don't register that well. I'm used to both types of touch so if the ds/3ds screen is anything to by it shouldn't be too bad.
Shhhh...don't tell the truth! The Ninty fanboys don't like the truth!
Thank the heavens for external hard drives!
So now...I still don't know if I want one or not.
Best review of it I've read so far. Thanks for posting this.
Not bad. I'm kind of interested in hearing the musical notes as I type in the menu. I'm also hoping I can take it to the poopy chair, or my bed.
Yeah.. we'll see if the Gamepad signal can travel through the quiet-rock in the walls of Dad's theatre room... I probably shouldn't hold my breath.
I cant wait til theres an in depth review of this system, miiverse, eshop, games, etc.. I wanna know if games can boot from the external HDD ppl will need too.. That screen confusion might take some getting used to. With 3DS, both screens are in the same field of view so its natural, this takes adjustment to look back n forth.. Not knowing wich one to look at may turn of casual players & get frustrating to others..
TVii does NOT work for Comcast users. That's most of America. Why is everyone neglecting this?!?
I live in UK and tvii doesn't work at all in europe so it was never a selling point for me anyway, the selling point was zombiu, I've been waiting for a proper survival horror game since silent hill 3.
That's the same with every tablet device once you get used to it away you go, not long now.
Poor finger sensitivity is a shame but, stylus use should allow for some better dedicated touch screen actions like drawing. That said I generally tap my ds with my nails which is more precise than using the nubby finger tips on my phone. Always got to way up the pros n cons, I'd rather have durability over sensitivity as those pads aren't going to be cheap.
