Borderlands 2 finally nerfs The Bee shield

Gearbox Software today released patch notes to an update for the PC version of “Borderlands 2” that included a nerf to the controversial Bee shield. The legendary drop allowed players with full shields to continuously punish foes with massive amounts of damage, thus giving fans the ability to down the game’s massive boss fights in mere seconds.

This lead many to vocally sound out their belief that the item was overpowered and destroyed the supposed complexity that boss fights were meant to carry in the game. On the other hand, proponents of the shield argued that it allowed them to actually play the game with just themselves or one other player. After all, they felt that “Borderlands 2” was a game that was meant to be playable for one to four players, not a game that absolutely required one to play with a full group of people if they desired to even think about doing the game’s later content. (Borderlands 2, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

This is really surprising, both arguments are logical and make scents.

The issue here as I see it was they didn't balance the end game content very well. It should have scaled ALOT better then it did. Doing something like Terramorphose solo could be very easy if you got the right gear which took quite alot of time as the drop rate on things like The Confrence call and The Bee were not very good. So the solo player had to simply put in time to be able to take down the biggest baddy in the game. Makes sense.

But when you start adding people it should have gotten harder to the point that the Bee woulden't feel so overpowered and it would instead start to feel more like a raid boss. That way those who what that party feel with a epic fight can get that and those who want to play solo and simply get the gear they want can do that as well.

Alot of people already said this but I think it's a mistake on Gearbox's part to be treating the game as if it's a MMO. It's not and so overpowered gear should not be gimped. It makes those solo players suffer. Instead focus on beefing up the scaling so those groups of people need to fight harder bosses.

100% agree this is not a MMO were the community is effected on a large scale this at heart is a PVE rpg. its stupid how they do stuff at gearbox. The system of basically the worse drop rates ever accompanied with the scaling money(which makes alot of money kinda worthless)and the fact that some of these bosses with out the beee take way to much ammo and effort on your 30x for an item that is not gonna pop anyways. 20k for a RPG is just dumb actually it may be more.

They are like stated multiple times treating this as a big World MMO/PVP game and its not it has small trace amount of PVP and its so unbalanced it might as well not be considered a feature anyways.

Borderlands 2 is easy enough as it is; all battles are more a battle of attrition rather than skill until you get to True Vaulter Mode. Even then, it's hard for a team to die, based on what I've experienced.... ---12

Hyperius isn't. Even with the bee shield he's damn hard. If you farm him you may beat him 1/10 times with the un nerfed bee shield depending on your class.

Really stupid decision, and makes you wonder if Gearbox actually knows what they're doing and whats best for the game.

Why nerf it? If you don't want to kill bosses relatively quickly and do them "properly" then don't use it, end of story. This is NOT an MMO or competitive FPS, so having the odd item that is OP means nothing.

I play solo myself, I find it difficult to find a lag free server on my connection and dislike playing with random people anyway, so now this update means farming bosses is a pointless waste of time as the drops rates are so bad. Which is another thing that needs fixing, what was wrong with BL1 drops rates?

Instead of "fixing" things like OP items, how about focusing on some broken CHARACTERS next, eh? A couple of Zer0's skills don't work properly, not to mention his terramorphous class mod that has a gunzerker skill.

Well, I wish they would have left it as-is, but whatever.
