Depending on where you stand, Halo is probably a fun game for you, but was it a game that really needed to be made?
"I don’t want to hear that everything is explained in the books, because that’s bull****! Games shouldn’t be some homework assignment where you have to do outside work before play the game, it takes away from the experience as a whole." True....except by the 4th installment of a major franchise with a universe that is ever expanding fans of the games will have read the books without question or whining. The plot also made perfect sense even without reading the books. Your just a terrible troll who thinks that because YOU don't like a game that the game is bad.
The game is very fun and in the end that is what counts for me, but I don't like the story much at all. I had a blast playing through the campaign, but the story was underwhelming. And to anyone saying that it's a person's own fault for not having a full grasp on the story because they haven't read comics and novels, that's just ridiculous. A full game (and any installment of media) should contain all the information that is needed to fully understand its plot and the events that transpire within. The multiplayer is what will keep me playing this game. It's fantastic. EDIT: Also I miss the days when Forerunner lore still had that mystery to it. Now they've gone and explained everything like how Bioware, IMO ruined the Reapers by lifting that wondrous veil of mystery.
How is chief trying to save the only humanity he has ever known and the closest thing to a friend(as long as u havent read the books) and being faced with an enemy that is determined to balance the universe through extinction so he needs to put his "feelings" aside a bad story? It's deep and intriguing. Much deeper than "oh no. Terrorist...kill kill kill"
It actually explains the story and info you need on all the terminals within the game so in a way everything's there that needs to be just not everyone's gonna bother to look for them all.
I was rather disappointed in Halo 4 single player. As someone who hasn't read the novels, I really have very little idea who the Didact is other than a Forerunner. And being the game basically didn't give him any characterization, I never cared who he was. When it came down to it, the only part of the story that meant much to me was Cortana's story, especially the end. As far as the gameplay, I was expecting a little more. But when I saw the new enemies and new weapons I was excited, then realized they function almost exactly the same as the Covenant. The Forerunner enemies were the same classes as Covenant (with slightly different ability) and the weapons were exactly Forerunner versions of what is already there. Forerunner assault rifle, BR, sniper, shotgun, etc. I'm not looking for Rachet and Clank creativity, but it just felt lazy. The MP seems good, though, from the couple matches I played. I honestly haven't really gotten into yet, though. I'm still working on Assassin's Creed III, then I'll let it steal my life for a month or two if it's good enough.
In no way has halo 4 failed...its an incredible game! I'm a ps3 gamer...and eventhough I believe xbl fees to be a rip off..I got a 360 just. For halo 4. STOP HATIN!
Man. I salute you! You're a gamer. And there is nothing wrong with you liking the PS3 over the 360. I hope you find more games to enjoy on the Xbox.
You guys should watch the terminals it gives some back-story to the forerunners.
I did after I finished the story (why they did it in Waypoint I will never understand), and it definitely does. Unfortunately, unless you are willing to get out of the game for a little bit to go see the video when you unlock it, you are stuck with an antagonist who is barely there.
lol all the hate for this amazing game still LOL, suck it fanboys, halo 4 is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G i can't put it down, i just also recently went through a break up, and i dont even think of it when im playing halo 4, its just got everything in one package, the multiplayer also is the best of any game.
Only completed 2 missions in the campaign so far and it is truly amazing.
On the multiplayer side, what is the point of the thruster pack in slayer moving you 3 feet. Seriously. That was a waste of time to use, and it needs a buff. They might as well removed all the armor abilities if they are going to nerf them so bad. Aside from that, the multiplayer is solid gold even without my armor lock. How I miss thee so, and still putting foot to ass without it.
Yea it's good for say maybe close quarters if someone throws a grenade at you from down a hall maybe I believe if they made it thrust you farther it would be more useful
cod is a fail not a game built with a new engine and physics and thats why this article is bull shit.i luv halo 4 i only wish it had few more boards on planets outside.felt like i was in a ship a lil to much. still awsome game fukin luv it.if anything is a fail its the article.
I'm a huge halo fan, and loved pretty well all halo games. then I played halo 4, excited by the great reviews and the trailers... Then I played it. The covenant sounded wrong. The grunts sounded like ugnaunts.. The jackals looked NOTHING like in the other games I mean how hard is that? The warthog is another one... Anyway it just wasn't that fun.
" But was it a game that needed to be made?" This is a stupid pointless unanswerable question that needs to be purged from so called game journalism forever. Like it or not, no game needs to be made. None of them. At all. Ever. MGS 3:Snake Eater didn't need to be made. Balder's Gate II:Shadows os Amn didn't need to be made. Diablo II didn't need to be made. Bejeweled II didn't need to be made. Games are not made because the universe requires them. They exist because there is an audience for them. So whining about whether or not Bioshock II, Assassin's Creed: Revelation, Sonic Kart Racing, Magicka, an FPS/TPS remake of XCOM, God of War 3, BAttlefield 3, Batman Arkham City, or Halflife II "needed" to be made is absolutely stupid. They were made or are being made. Deal with it.
