Modern Warfare 3 engine, CryEngine 3 vulnerable to security flaws

A report out of the POC2012 Conference in Seoul, via ComputerWorld, suggests games running CryEngine 3 and Modern Warfare 3′s IW Engine may both be vulnerable to separate security issues. Security consultant firm ReVuln demonstrated issues with multiplayer servers using both engines, and said similar problems may exist in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 – but will expect an official commission rather than volunteering the details to Activision. (Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Crysis 3, PC, PS3, Wii U, Xbox 360)

Trolls need not comment.

OT: Just goes to show how even an advanced new high-end engine like CryEngine 3 can have its flaws.

It's probably not their area of expertise. Quake 3 had a VM that ran it's plugins to maintain security.

Can probably be fixed though considering they're server-side issues.
