The New York Times has published a rather interesting interview with Dan Houser in which, among other things, the Rockstar co-founder manages to heavily spoil the plot of Grand Theft Auto 5.
They should have saved this as a surprise for the player... now Im going to expect it to happen. SPOILERS When It happened in AC3 and Heavy Rain, I went HOLY SH*T WTF! But now I'm going to expect this to happen now :(, I like when my games go SGT Doakes on me http://www.youtube.com/watc...
To be fair I think they would have tailored the story around the fact you know. It would be stupid to play a character and it turns out to be the bad guy without at least hinting (never played Heavy Rain so can't comment on that). In AC3 you do not play as the main antagonist and there is a small twist at the very beginning of the game (funnily enough bigger than the end twists). GTA stories tend to be quite long. To keep you in the dark about being the bad guy for that long (just for a twist) just wouldn't work.
Huh... didn't think of it like that... kind of like a who dun it idea? Whatever... really hyped for wednesday when the trailer drops. I feel like Im going to like the father character and the upcoming hustler... but the pshyco war vet im not sure They can either make him annoying pshyco like Tuco from Breaking Bad, or well done pshyco like Anton in no country for old men
It was pretty much obvious Haytham was going to be a bad guy. He's British. It's almost impossible for something set in American to have British people that aren't bad guys.
Really... we are doing this here? Everyone but the natives were british. It was a civil war, in which a bunch of british people wanted to leave the rule of britian. Also... thats incorrect... most of the times now, Russians or Arabs are bad guys. Also... how is something set in American? And no it wasn't obvious.. I mean his student was Charles Lee, who was a big American General
There were plenty of British people who weren't the bad guys and plenty of "Americans" who were. Did you even play the game? Washington gave the order to burn Connor's village to the ground, Haytham was trying to win independence as well, he just approached it differently.
You obviously missed the point in my post. I meant Things set in America* always put British people as bad guys, failing that they cast a British guy to play a bad guy.
You know how you can avoid this by not reading this or any other GTA related articles. I want to go into GTA 5 with out spoilers. So I will watch the trailers but that's it
@ nim damn man, thanks for writing Spoilers in the middle of your comment, with absolutely no let on that you are gonna ruin AC3 for anyone who hasn't finished..i.e. me.
me too lol ugh
Sorry, but Deku wrote the spoiler first
well i guess i don't need to give two shits about ac3 now.. /facepalm
I already figured that out so its not a big surprise. Anyone could have figured that out with the three playable characters.
Grand Theft Auto V storyline promises to be the most exciting one yet! just like GTA4
well I play GTA just to fudge shit up. I only play story to unlock stuff to fudge shit up with, so spoilers, whatever
I am not going to read this article ...
One of the three main characters is the antagonist. <- make sure you don't read that part! You can thank me later..
That's going to be really hard to pull off. Knowing the whole time that what you are doing is to harm yourself just as a different character would be kind of irritating. It'd feel like a constant state of counter-productiveness. Plus there'd be no surprises if you're the bad guy. I have faith in Rockstar though.
As long as the game have at least 3 different endings. I'll probably play it 3 different times.
That's like being told one of the characters in Heavy Rain was the villain. It wouldn't have been as good.
Not a spoiler at all
How is that a spoiler people? The characters that you play aren't knights in shining armor, they're criminals. The characters themselves are antagonistic in nature. As the protagonist (character of choice) you can play the role of the antagonist (I.e kill everyone in the main story). Or choose to make one of the characters a protagonist (I.e. not kill everyone and go against the antagonistic character of your choice). What's presented in GTA v is an incredible amount of freedom on or off mission.
OMG just dont read that god damn spoiler then !
I'm pretty sure Michael is the villain, why else would he need witness protection by the FIB? He's a snitch and cannot be trusted.
Still no spoiler at all in that article
Gta is a bad guys world...what's new?!
Must not read!...Must resist!....aw whatever, I'm going to buy it anyways so here goes. *click link*
