5 Blu-ray Players for Less than $500

Matthew Moskovciak of CNET writes:

"HD DVD has always been the cheaper of the high-definition formats, but now that Blu-ray has commandeered the lead in the format war, it's worth spending more to ensure you don't end up with the next Betamax. While you won't find any Blu-ray players available for $99, there are at least some recent models are available for less than $500."

sorry to laugh....but the comments "While you won't find any Blu-ray players available for $99, there are at least some recent models are available for less than $500" are just funny to me. So are we trying to say that less than $99 and less than $500 are about equivelant?

and ....dont worry. I know Blu-Ray has won against HD-DVD. But they have a long road ahead of them vs Upscaling DVD players that are under $99 and movies that are $10-$15 vs $20-$30.

Looks like cnet needs to do more research for the PS3. There is a lot of information missing that is readily available with some half-assed good searching.

Big time slacking.

DMPBD30K should be the only choice for stand alone at those prices.

Both Sammy and the Sony unit have issues with freezing. The Sharp is ok but it blow away by the speed of the 30K and it also has a SDHC card slot.

Otherwise just get a PS3.

I'm waiting for BDLive.
