WC writes: Some inclusions may come across as surprising and some exclusions may come across as head-scratching, but without further ado, here are thirty tracks that will contribute to the legacy of the Final Fantasy series for many years to come.
There may be mild spoilers for those unfamiliar with some of the series’ storylines.
You need a reason to fight the good fight. In video games, some of the best antagonists have been female perpetrators.
You guessed it: you will need a lot of hours to beat every FF. But maybe not as many as you would think.
According to Howlongtobeat and this post, 489 hours, not including any spinsoffs, sequels or the two MMO's (FFXI and FFXIV).
That means, 1 to 16 + 7 Remake, excluding X-2, XIII-2, Lightning Returns, XI and XIV.
I"ve actually been running through all main games myself, but doing Platinum runs on each, including the sequels (Excluding XI and XIV).
I have played through them all countless times thou, and in remasters where I could speed up combat and exp gain, I've used it.
Took me around 1100 hours on fresh account, but now I'm exhausted and super ready for Rebirth.
At this stage good luck you're better off picking a entry point and sticking with that
Final Fantasy has a long running history with numerous numbered titles and spin-offs, but which games stand to benefit from a remake?
I'd rather the 13 trilogy just be ported tbh. No matter what you think if it, it shouldn't be the only numbered offline games not playable on new consoles. But naturally I'd play the **** out of 8-12 remakes.
Final Fantasy soundtrack is the best.... so beautiful. One winged angel is my favorite track ever
Great list! Many of my faves are on this. My personal top 10.
1: FF X - To Zanarkand
2: FF VII - Aerith's theme
3: FF IV - Zeromus The Last Battle
4: FF X - Ending theme
5: FF X-2 - Eternity ~Memory of Lightwaves~
6: FF VI - Terra
7: All FF - Prologue
8: FF VIII - The Extreme
9: FF VII - Tifa's theme
10: FF VII - Cloud Smiles
Notable mentions
FF VII - The Great Warrior
FF VII CC - The Price of Freedom
Trisection from FFT- really gives me goosebumps... specially after those final hard earned battles! BTW compositions are not my cup of tea at all... J-e-n-o-v-a was completely broken... (in my opinion) Birth of a God is really epic. One winged angels is done to death (almost a cliche) but that is the culmination of that whole game in my view. FFVII, FFVIII and FFT are my personal favorite gotta have those in my car at all times.
I love love love Someday The Dream Will End. I know a lot of people think To Zanarkand is the best FFX tune, but STDWE is easily my favorite. I remember walking into Zanarkand the very fist time and getting shivers as soon as the haunting music started paying.
I have such a soft spot for FFVIII's music too. I'd even go as far to say it's my favorite Final Fantasy soundtrack, so I couldn't pick my all-time favorite. Though I do have a soft spot for The Extreme, but I LOVED Succession of the Witches. It's just so goddamned CREEPY!
And One Winged Angel is really good too, but I always preferred Sephiroth's main theme Those Chosen by the Planet. It was eerie and always creeped me out whenever Sephiroth showed up and the song started playing. It just fits the tone of his scenes so well without any need for lyrics or an epic orchestra.
I could go on, but I'd end up writing an essay. lol
Final Fantasy Tactics = greatest game soundtrack ever.
