Tony Key, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Ubisoft, says his company is taking the same approach with the Wii U because it bring “second screen” gaming to life. Inside is an edited transcript of GamesBeat's interview with Key, who never met a new console he didn’t like.
Next gen will be very interesting with all 3.
Anybody that can't read between the lines that this will be a console supported by massive amounts of 3rd party games is blind as a bat.
I mean you don't get all these major console devs that make alot of the biggest games on the 360/ps3 to make launch window games on the Wii U if they're not going to put more out later.
You'll have all the FPS...like CoD, Battlefield, various Tom Clancy games, etc.
You'll have the next Mass Effect trilogy. Assassin creed series. Madden. 2kyear basketball games.
Those devs; their current IP's, and the new ones, will be on the Wii U.
It won't have the exclusives other consoles has like Halo or God of War, but it'll have the Nintendo 1st party exclusives which is nothing to sneeze at....Zelda, Mario Bros, Metroid, Donkey Kong, etc, etc.
the idea of using the gamepad as the main selling point is that Nintendo has always been about being different. they've always been about introducing new ways of playing games. so marketing-wise, it just makes sense to use the gamepad as the main selling point.
what do you think will be the reaction of the people if instead they used the pro controller as the main controller, and the gamepad as an accessory they will release in the future? chances are, you'll have sony/ms fanboys "proving their point" about Wii U, just being slightly more powerful compared to the ps3/xbox360.
but with the gamepad, its features and built-in function, we get something more. something more than meets the eye.
Watch Dogs on the Wii U. Please. I'm even prepared to beg or sacrifice rare animals to Rayman.
so Watch Dogs could come. having seen it, i myself would be happy to have it appear on Wii U. otherwise, i'd have to get it for PC.
