Have Video Game Movies Changed Forever?

On Friday November 2nd 2012, the latest video game movie Wreck-It Ralph was released in cinemas: some say this movie changed the way video game movies are made forever. Being the first of its kind to bring cameos from many different kinds of popular video game franchises that most people, gamers or not, will definitely recognize, Wreck-It Ralph is a what some call video game movies done right. Here’s why (3DS, Culture, Disney, Industry, PC, PS Vita, PS3, Wii, Wii U, Wreck-It-Ralph, Xbox 360)

Video Games have reached a TransMedia status with novels, comic books, merchandise etc...
We only deserve accuracy and a wholesome genuine feel whenever a movie is inspired by a videogame's intellectual property. One cannot wait the Mass Effect movie franchise as well as Assassin's Creed!!!

I saw the movie when it came out and I loved it. It wasn't a conventional "video game movie" but I loved the references. Definitely a must for anyone who enjoys a good disney movie and video games.

Haven't seen the movie yet, but I hear it's really well-done. Definitely going to check it out asap.

It was one of the best movies this year. It's the kind of movie everyone In the family can enjoy

I completely agree, it wasn't forcing any references. Some were subtle, some were funny but it was a true video game movie without being obnoxious or "sell-out" material for the sole purpose of appealing to a broader audience. I was happy with the movie overall and I hope this acts as a reference point for future movies. Too bad there isn't much hype about it (at least where I'm from)

I actually wanna see the Mario Bros. movie again and remember why it has such a bad rep.

Don't watch it and save yourself the 2 hours you would waste.

haha I completely agree with you on that one, Mario Bros movie is shame to both gamers and moviebuffs alike!

It has bad rep because its bad like Jar jar, but if you are like me its bad in a funny way because nobody said a bad movie couldn't be a fun movie.

It was a great movie; a lot of the obscure videogame references were great even if the vast majority of the audience didn't get them at all. But oh yes, did they crack up whenever Silverman would say anything

That and the Konami code being entered on a giant NES controller. No one else in the theater was laughing but me.

Granted I just went early this morning where there weren't a lot of people, but I expected at least someone else to get it.
