Killzone HD - Review | G4MERS

G4MERS: "Killzone HD which is kind of an addition to the Killzone Trilogy addition should remain. The game is not worth the interest of anyone. There is no longer the imagination, as the original a few years ago, and why only one can move on to the title story, which is interesting and tells the fate of battles Higów origins of ISA."

I love how he is comparing a "HD" game to current games right now. I swear people can be so stupid.

Gameplay - 5
Very heavy, very coarse, very outdated. Overall - forgettable.

LOL, very outdated. No shit its a 2004 game.

knowyourstuff4184d ago

I know right, it's a slower paced game where you have to take your time, make slower controlled bursts if you have any hope of hitting your target, none of this twitch gameplay that the reviewer is used to with CoD and Halo, where you can spray and pray and it usually works out fine.

The game is amazing, I just platinumed it the other day and it was the easiest most satisfying platinum of all 26 of my Plat trophies.

"...none of this twitch gameplay that the reviewer is used to with CoD and Halo, where you can spray and pray and it usually works out fine."

Everyone knows that Halo and Killzone are the most skillful shooters out there. Don't let its popularity fool you into thinking it's like CoD.

@FlameHawk

Heavily agreed. What I don't get is, some HD remasters get a free pass,
Ocarina Of Time 3D has a 94 on metacritic.
Halo Anniversary has a 82 on metacritic, despite adding waaaaay more content than the simple touch up on 3DS.

Killzone, being an FPS like Halo, probably get reviewed more harshly as there are so many FPS games to be compared to. I loved Killzone back on PS2, and I still love it now. I actually liked the heavy feel of it.

Don't believe reviews! this says it all...

"very outdated. No shit its a 2004 game." lol well said!

Coming from a site named 'g4mers' I bet they feel like they're real gamers with entitlement.

Its like....You know you're dealing with a badass online if they clearly have a username like "Badass666". Don't fuck with that guy, he's clearly too badass for you. Same goes for those who title themselves or their domain what they want to be perceived....They/he all want to be perceived as gamers, potentially and attempting to obscure an obviousness that could be, who's to say they aren't fucktarded, illogically opinionated or biased in some way or another? Shhhh, no....they have to be gamers! TRUE G4MERS. Fo Real.

Dat shit has to be true, comin' from a g4mer, lol.

Its age is no excuse and just because a game has dated mechanics doesnt mean that it isnt enjoyable or a good game by today's standards. Half-Life was released in 1998 and its still better than most if not all FPS released today. HL2, like killzone, was released in 2004 and for many its still the best FPS ever made. Killzone's problem is not that it was released in 2004. Its problem is that it was mediocre then and its mediocre now. 5/10 would be the score i would give it when i tried to play it in 2004 because i couldnt be bothered to finish it.

I have never played the original KZ on PS2 and I downloaded the game straight away! wow...it's so different than 2 and 3 and it plays more like the old CoDs and MoHs! kinda surprised myself but I'm enjoying it!

to compare it with recent games is harsh as it's been 8 years since it was released, so what do you expect? and for the guy up there mentioning Half-Life, of course it still feels like recent games as FPS on PC have always been played using kb+m no matter what game it is and you can customize the control as you wish! it's different, TOTALLY different with console games using gamepads!

I'm happy to say thanks to the trilogy, I can now experience the world of Killzone (which I missed badly when the games came out on their respective releases)

I think killzone hd was for nostalgic fans. It shows its age but when i first played it i was amazed.

Killzone is an amazing game, even at this time

I'm with you. It was ahead of it's time and held back by hardware. But it was still amazing and one of my all-time favorite FPSs ever. And still my favorite of the series in terms of the over-all game content.

Greatest opening in gaming history imo featuring one of the greatest little speeches ever, voiced by Brian Cox.

Fantastic campaign which is not only a pretty good story, but nice and long as well, with big open environments usually, which didn't feel at all like a "A to B coridoor shooter".

TONS of awesome, fun to use weapons, which almost all had secondary firing modes.

That heavy, realistic feel that Killzone is infamous for, and is the reason it's my favorite FPS series is there (and probably at it's heaviest, lol).

Amazingly varied environments thoughout the story and multi-player maps. Pretty much every imaginable FPS environment is accounted for in the campaign. And surprisingly colorful even though it's almost Nior style art which almost has like a black and white or old-film quality to it. It's honestly a style GG lost after Killzone 1 and the famous target video from E3 2006, and I wished they would have went back to it after they mastered PS3.

And the online/offline multi-player was just fantastic, especially if you had a group of good, honest people to play with (since it was a great game for the old "pull-killers" for anyone who was gaming online back then, you'll remember that term. For those that didn't game online on PS2 in those days......be thankfull.). Killzone 1 had 3 of my all-time favorite online maps. Beach Head, Park Terminal and Canyon Crossing. Core was great on the busy parts of the map as well.

The HD remaster of Killzone 1 was such a fantastic thing for them to do. It really made for an overall even better product. The game really deserved the slightly improved visuals, tighter control feel and steady framerate/audio. Too bad it doesn't have online, but the offline/splitscreen multi-player is still there. What a steal for $15.

A very average and forgettable game

Larry L3952d ago

Speak for yourself. When I think back to enjoying myself while playing a FPS game, 3 games instantly come to mind. DOOM 1/2, Unreal 2k4 and Killzone 1. Those are the TOP for me. Maybe throw CoD2 in there as well.

Killzone: HD Review - The Digital Fix

Killzone was a victim. A victim to a phrase that must have struck fear into the hearts of any developer back in 2004, a phrase that must have been the bane of any over-enthusiastic PR team and the cause of many headaches at Guerrilla games. Halo killer! Back in the mid noughties the game scene was settling in with the new king of console shooters, Xbox was taking off which was probably due to the Master Chief alone, and his second outing was on the horizon. Sony needed a competitor, something to quench the FPS thirst of its seventy million strong PS2 owners club.

Killzone HD Review (www.ComboCaster.com)

There are plenty of things surprised me in Killzone, the fact that both have managed to evolve from the first game and the sequel, although between entities have also gone Liberation for PSP that despite the change in perspective is a very good title, something that is beyond shows the amazing support we received from Sony Guerrilla despite the failure of the first in the criticism. Another thing that surprises me is related to the first and it was possible to have received even a Killzone sequel, when budgets reach a certain value risk is not something you see normally and put Guerrilla very concerned in betting on a sequel, but thankfully it did because Killzone 2 is one of the best shooters for PS3 and the games that gave me more enjoyment playing in recent years.
