Free Thinking Fiends : Do you believe in the System Seller theory?

Games Fiends staff open up an internal frank discussion on what they believe the fate of the "system seller" might be. It soon turns in to a discussion on jus twhat the big three console makers need to do to wow gamers with the coming generation of consoles. (Culture, Industry, Microsoft, Next-Gen, Nintendo, PS3, Sony, Wii U, Xbox 360)

well it depends on the context of system seller. new consoles offering new shiny titles are definitely system sellers, exclusive ip's are system sellers to gamers who care about exclusive ip's. games to the masses however usually aren't system sellers, the casual or less knowledgeable gamers such as people who only buy consoles to play sports titles or games like call of duty usually get a console based on price and what console more of their friends are on.

Mario is a system seller. The reason Nintendo is still alive is due to the popularity of Mario!

Not as the sole defining factor.

Sometimes, there's a game that I just HAVE to have a system for(for example, I HAD to have Gravity Rush, so I HAD to buy a Vita).

But, generally speaking, I believe it should be a total package that pulls a person: multiple games, features, affordability, etc. What good is ONE game if that ONE game is all there is?

No, I'd rather there be lots of reasons instead of just one.
