Written by: Daniel Webb - "“Dark Souls” is a game synonymous with cruel difficulty and relentless death resulting in many broken controllers, yet the game’s rich lore and beautifully wicked world has earned a league of die-hard fans. The critically acclaimed game was released on consoles in the third quarter of 2011 with the PC version, “Dark Souls: Prepare to Die,” released in August of 2012."
"Dark Souls: Archthrones is like playing a brand new FromSoftware game, and that speaks volumes about just how much good modding can do," says Hanzala from eXputer.
Parrying has been creeping into more games, with almost every high-profile title of the last few years featuring it in some way. Why?
i understand the authors frustration i'm not the best at parrying in games. not that i can't complete a game that requires it but it is a definite harder thing for me than other kinds of techniques in games. which might be the main reason it's so heavily added in games nowadays. want to make your game challenging without having to do a lot of work? just add a parry boss. (what i mean by parry boss is a boss you have to beat by parrying such that their attacks will kill you otherwise)
I always think it's fine as long as such games also have the roll/dodge panic button. But I understand the will to parry, it seems so cinematic in a fight when you pull it off.
TheGamer writes, "Some weapons resist the test of time."
It doesn't really though does it?
Silly argument.
PC is a PC.
A console is a console.
Both are able to play games, but consoles are more convenient and easier to use on the big screen. All the big games are made on console then ported to PC.....if they even make it to PC. Piracy is a huge problem.
Who gives a crap?
I just started getting into PC gaming and it is brilliant. I wouldn't say it is significantly better or worse than gaming on a console.
BUT! When it comes to Dark Souls a controller is without a doubt the best way to experience the game. I just can't see a keyboard and mouse being viable. Sure people will do just fine with Keyboard and Mouse, but a controller is the way forward.
The best part is both versions of the game CAN be played with a controller. It is just essentially the same experience on both platforms.
This is NOT the game to spark a PC vs Console debate. The benefits for each sides are so small it doesn't matter.
Online & control
CONSOLES > pc
PC Dark Souls > Console Dark Souls
Bob Dole's reasoning behind this; mods. A mod was released for this game a mere 30 minutes after it launched enabling the game to be played at 1080p resolution. With a controller and a HDMI cable hooked into a tv the gameplay is exactly the same. There is also a 60fps mod someone made but it only works in offline mode but it looks oh so gorgeous.
