Final Fantasy XIV: A Positive Tale Born From Disaster

After the final save that puts the word "end" on the first iteration of Final Fantasy XIV, Giuseppe Nelva of DualShockers.com shares his tale on what Final Fantasy XIV was, what it is, and what it might become. (Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, PC, PS3)

Great article. I am VERY excited for the future of FF14. I tried playing for a couple of days but my PC wasn't powerful enough to run the game. That brief amount of time convinced me that it was a MMO that I will totally purchase.

Yeah they sure have come a long way since it first came out. Can't wait for the PS3 version to come out!

its a flawed boring MMO; it still isnt much better then release. Core fundamentals in their design cannot be corrected; like the copy pasted zones that are made from stamping the same sections over again; boring quests and mob grinding.

Sorry this MMO is only worth it as a free to play title; with 0 investment to play it.

Fanboypunisher: Quite obviously you didn't play it anywhere recently (meaning later than a year ago).

At the moment it's a very enjoyable MMORPG, with a fantastic design and a great storyline. It's flawed, but nowhere near boring.

Things are worth whatever people are willing to pay for. Some are cheaper then others. Obviously, you're one of the cheap ones.

@FanboyPunsher: From the start to the current it has improved quite a bit. Lately I haven't been following up on it as much as I would like to, but I know they have improved it quite a lot since then. The letters to the editors have proved that. Also what you described as boring quests and mob grinding can be associated with almost any MMO to be honest it's all about whether or not you enjoy the A. Characters, B. Classes and C. The people around you; along with how much content to keep one contented.

Look at his name he's obviously just trolling. Not to mention lying. Because if he had been keeping up with the game at all since the roadmap was released (last year) his statement about the copy-pasted zones (while true at the moment) is completely false. They can and ARE being corrected, it was oneof the first things they announced was getting changed. Every map is getting COMPLETELY redone from the ground up. The cities aren't being 100% redone but every other map is and those are the only ones where the repetition is noticeable.
