Assassins Creed moves away from the familiar settings of Monteriggioni and Constantinople which followers of the series will be familiar with now. This is a huge decision by Ubisoft to move the game to a completely new surrounding and new continent. The game opens in the present day, with Desmond, his father, Rebecca, and Shaun finding the Temple in a cave in New York, Desmond uses the Apple to gain entry to the Temple and in doing so starts to activate a lot of equipment. He also activates a timer to the event which is set on December 21st 2012.
