Gamasutra: "Namco Bandai today announced increased revenues and profits for the first half of the 2013 fiscal year, with strong video game sales a key factor. In particular, highest sales were shown by Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and Soul Calibur V."
I was really impressed with both TTT2 and SC5. Not so much with the high volume of rage-quitters in SC5. The netcode and online experience was pretty solid in terms of lag/stability.
I never gave SC5 a chance...I really think I should.
It's kinda funny. For years we've been fed the idea that all games sell better on the 360 than the PS3 and yet when we see developers reveal their sales figures clearly that's not always the case. Some developers games are more geared towards the 360's demographics, some aren't as we see here with the PS3 accounting for twice the sales as the 360. It's amazing to think that these stereotypes which originated when the 360 enjoyed a much larger lead in the market have persisted over the years despite the changing marketplace. Of course, the gaming media and Microsoft still insist on perpetrating the image of Microsoft as some type of industry leader with the 360 despite that position being regulated to only one territory much as the original xbox was ignored outside of the US. We've seen the numbers. The majority of 360's were sold to one region. It'll be interesting to see what Microsoft does with it's next gen console to try to succeed outside of the US, just as it'll be interesting to see if the PS4 can recapture the US market it owned with the PS2 but lost to the Wii and 360 this gen. Edit below: And evidently they sell better in Europe and Japan than they do in the US. Still, they released over 100 games this year and only a fraction of those were fighting games. Look at sales of Dark Souls, for example. Again, PS3 numbers were about double 360 numbers. Same with sales of the last Ace Combat entry. Same with Armored Core.
Fighting games always sale better on PS3, so I'm not surprised by those sale figures.
good, I like Namco... where's ma new Katamari game for 3ds??? :)
