Miyamoto: Wii Fit is not meant to make you fit

In a recent interview on, Shigeru Miyamoto told Nintendo president Satoru Iwata that Wii Fit is not actually meant to make you fit. "I forgot to mention something important earlier: I don't think Wii Fit's purpose is to make you fit; what it's actually aiming to do is make you aware of your body." Miyamoto said. So does that mean Wii Fit is actually only reminding you that your out of shape and should do some real exercise?

If you bought this thing with getting in shape in mind in the first place -- then I guess you get what you deserve. Incredible.

wii fit can get you glad nintendo is not using it for that.. the crys you would get from fitness companies.. its enough to have sony and xbox 360 fanboys crying...we'll leave it at that much for now.

Awesome pic choice there.

I'm sure someone who "plays" WiiFit who would've otherwise just sat on the couch would see some fitness benefits (ppl still get sore arms after playing WiiSports), but being physically fit for most will require much more strenuous activity.

wth?? people get sore arms from wii sports?

Syko3751d ago (Edited 3751d ago )

You've clearly never tried to strike out your friend in baseball or played an extended Tennis battle. It happens.

My arm gets the most sore from the Soda shaking mini game in Mario Party 8. I have never been beaten in it...Don't know if I should be proud of that or not, My technique would look dodgey if you walked in mid mini-game. =)

Try Wii Boxing, not only do your arms hurt but you are exhausted. No one has come over to my house and played Wii Sports for any length of time without some repercussions the next day.

yeah, I work out and a prolonged bit of wii boxing left my arms sore!! imo it's the "least responsive" of the Wii sports games, and I found the surefire way to win was just to punch furiously and incessantly!!
