Wiinning with Wii U: How Nintendo Can Win its Core Over Again - AusGamers

AusGamers has posted a feature exploring what Nintendo needs to do post-release of the Wii U to not only maintain momentum, but to also win back over their lost fanbase.

From the feature:

"But technologies are converging and power is beginning to take root as a main driver for the next-gen. There’s also my aforementioned point of PS3 to Vita connectivity and Microsoft’s SmartGlass innovation -- both of which are on par with the Wii U’s biggest draw in the eyes of the average punter, so now is the time for Nintendo to drive how these technologies are best used and to stop pretending they’re at front of all this, because for the first time in a long time, they’re not, and it comes off as pompous and out-of-touch when they do..." It is a good step in the right direction for nintendo getting 3rd parties back into the Nintendo side again.

I really think they have gone backwards in a really good way, they are like the NES and SNES again where hopefully everyone will want to develop from Nintendo again.

The more good games and less shovelwear the better.

I never left. I understand the reason for the article but there was still some overlooking on some "core" gamers part with Wii software.

And less shovelware for any system is a good thing! :)

Making Retro Studios like Rare this generation would be really enticing! The rumors that Retro was head of showing developers how to maximize the hardware technology is what I mean. Games like Bayonetta 2 being co-developed by Nintendo is a huge step in the right direction of pulling the "core" back. Getting Mistwalker/Monolith to both make super exclusive RPG's would be win.

Nintendo has the franchises to pull the masses (core and all) in like Mario Kart "HD" or Metroid surely will. Having games like Monster Hunter on top of that will keep them interested. There will be many surprises that I couldn't even think of coming I'm sure.

I admit i'm excited to get Wii U so forgive my rambling.
